For one moment Saturday afternoon at Palm Beach International Raceway, John Force the racer crossed paths with John Force the PT Barnum of the straight-line. Force made sure the capacity crowd at the track located outside West Palm Beach, Fla., left with more than they paid for.

An odd number of dragsters provided the opportunity for the 16-time champion to enjoy an opportunity he's never taken advantage of. He finally got a chance to race against his daughter Brittany Force and her Top Fuel dragster.

Force won the impromptu match race when Brittany smoked the tires early and he sped to the Funny Car low elapsed time of the day, a 4.013. On the run, Brittany was quicker off of the starting line by .01.

"If she would have went down the track she would have beaten me," said Force. "Funny Cars don't run like a dragster. Not close enough. But it was fun running the dragster. I guess they didn't have enough pairings so I said I will run my kid and nobody else."

Force actually began working on the race promoters all morning, putting a bug in their ear, and offering to run his daughter as a novelty value adder for the national event-style test session.

"It was funny pulling up to [the starting line] because I couldn't see her," Force admitted. "Her car is so low that you cannot see the front end. She told me, 'I couldn't see you because the car sits so far back. I just told her, we didn't need to be looking over."

At the end of the day, Force knew he had been a part of something special. He was able to give back to the fans and his fans mean the world to him.

"They had a packed house here ... even the little bleachers were full," said Force. "This way Palm Beach International Raceway can make a buck ... entertain the fans and they work with the PRO organization. At the end of the day, this is good for the sport."
