BUDANO/SHAFIROFF CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
April 7-9th marked the opening of the NMCA’s 2007 schedule in Bradenton Florida. While the inclement weather might have kept everyone’s sprits a little down, two time Pro Street World Champion Vinny Budano couldn't have been happier.
Once again the Budano/Shafiroff Team was able to “run the table” and amass all the points available by qualifing number one with low et (6.534) ,top mph (218.44) . On Saturday night in the BMF Top Dog Shootout Budano crossed the stripe ahead of Jim Blair with a 6.50 to his 7.29. for the win.
Sunday Budano and company started their march to the final. Round one started with a competion bye, then a win over Pete Farber’s wild Dodge truck. Round three paired up Budano with Randall Hayes as both drivers did their best in a 2007 impersonation of fuel altereds trying get down the slippery track with Budano turning on the win light again and sending him into another final.
The final found Budano lined up with George Landis in his blown ex Jim Oddy Dodge Stratus.With Landis dipping into the 6.30s in the first round Budano knew the final could be decided on the starting line. Budano moved first and took the win running a 6.47 @ 218.39 as Landis took a wild ride trying to chase down the fast disappearing Camaro.
This win marks the third year in a row that the Budano/Shafiroff Team has won the opening NMCA event.
