NORWALK'S NEW MEDIA CENTER

Summit Motorsports Park has a new name, a new season, new events...and quite soon, a new Media Center.

"’State of the art’ is an often-overused phrase," said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park, formerly known as Norwalk Raceway Park. "But in this case, ‘state-of-the-art’ is truly our goal."

"’State of the art’ is an often-overused phrase," said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park, formerly known as Norwalk Raceway Park. "But in this case, ‘state-of-the-art’ is truly our goal."

The new Media Center will offer members of the working press an efficient, comfortable place to cover events at the track. It is over 2,000 square feet and includes spacious permanent work areas for up to 60 members of the press, Internet access, phone lines, a driver interview area and its own kitchen. It also offers one of the best views of the track in the entire park with uninterrupted line of site from the starting line to the finish line. There is a separate office area for National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and track officials.

"The inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals June 28 to July 1 will draw members of the media from Ohio and surrounding states, and we recognized the need to have a worthy working environment," added Bader. "The media should expect to see a facility similar to what they’re used to working in when covering professional sports teams."

The Media Center was designed after consulting with numerous motorsports journalists and studying the layouts of media facilities at the nation’s top race tracks.

The first use of the Media Center is planned for the inaugural Ethanol/General Motors Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser and the Ohio Lottery, May 18-20, 2007. This race is part of the NHRA’s 44-event Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series for sportsman racers. The track is located two miles east of Norwalk Ohio, at the intersections of State Routes 18 and 601.
