The X-DRL announced on Friday that its championship points fund will total an impressive $225,000 and span all of the X-DRL classes (Pro X-treme, Pro Nitrous, Pro Turbo, X-treme Pro Stock, X-treme Pro Modified, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Supercar Showdown and Pro Junior Dragster).

Included in that championship payout are two special “X-DRL X-tra” bonuses that award a cash payout to the points leader in each class after five races, and then one more for the driver who earns the most points over the final four events.

Each world champion will also be awarded a spectacular X-DRL championship trophy, championship ring, championship jacket and a “Championship Gold Card” that pre-registers the driver and their car for free for the entire 2014 X-DRL season.

In all, the X-DRL will award more than $1.15 million in prize money during its debut 2013 campaign.

“I think it’s incredible that the X-DRL will award more than $200,000 to our champions in our inaugural season. It speaks to the overwhelming support we have received from our sponsors, as well as our ownership group, and this will only create more anticipation for the upcoming season,” X-DRL Account Executive Keith Goolsby said.

“I really like the idea of the two ‘X-tra’ bonuses as well. It rewards the racers in a couple of unique ways and it was a fantastic idea from our marketing department to bring this unique and innovative twist to the 2013 season. There’s so many great racers in every category, and this just gives them another way to win and have a memorable experience in the X-DRL. ”

The 2013 X-DRL season begins April 6-7 with the X-DRL Spring Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park and includes nine stops at many of the nation’s top tracks.

The world championship will be awarded to the competitor recording the most points throughout the 9-race series in each professional class.

The points fund will pay the top 8 competitors in the points standings in each class following the final event of the season, the X-treme World Finals on Oct. 25-26 at the state-of-the-art zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

World champions in the Pro X-treme, Pro Nitrous, X-treme Pro Stock and Pro Turbo classes will be awarded $10,000, while the X-treme Pro Modified champion will earn $5,000.

Top Dragster and Top Sportsman world champions earn $3,000, and world champions in the Supercar Showdown and Pro Junior Dragster classes will earn $2,000 and $1,500, respectively.

For the exciting new “X-DRL X-tra” bonuses, the points leader through five events in the Pro X-treme, Pro Nitrous, X-treme Pro Stock, X-treme Pro Modified and Pro Turbo classes will earn $2,500, with $1,000 going to the leaders in Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.

An additional $2,500 will be awarded at the end of the year to the driver in PX, PN, XPS, PM and PT who earns the most points over the final four events, with $1,000 going to the leaders in TS and TD.

“We are really thrilled to offer this ‘X-DRL X-tra’ bonus, and it’s something all drivers can go after in both the first and second half of the 2013 season. It’s another one of the ‘X-Factors’ the X-DRL will bring to drag racing this year to make the action even more thrilling,” X-DRL Co-Owner Jeff Mitchell said.
