DSR AUTOGRAPH SESSION AT NEW YORK, NEW YORK THIS THURSDAY
Don Schumacher Racing will cap its third consecutive year as partners with New York-New York Hotel & Casino as the official Las Vegas home when the NHRA drag racing juggernaut rolls into town.
DSR's seven drivers are eager to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 in the main hotel lobby where reigning Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan's Mopar/Aaron's 320-mph Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car and seven-time world champion Tony Schumacher's 330-mph U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster will be on display.
DSR features the top-three teams in NHRA Top Fuel Dragster standings and three of the top-four in Funny Car rankings heading to the Oct. 25-28 NHRA Big O Tires Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The Top Fuel lineup features points leader Antron Brown and the Matco Tools special edition pink "Tools for the Cause" to benefit the Susan G. Komen Fight for the Cure organization dragster. FRAM/Prestone's Spencer Massey is second in points and close behind is the U.S. Army's seven-time NHRA world champion Tony Schumacher.
In Funny Car, Jack Beckman and the Battery eXtender Powered by Schumacher Dodge Charger R/T team set a national record en route to slipping past teammate Ron Capps of the NAPA AUTO PARTS team at the last event to take the points lead heading to Las Vegas. Big O Tires/Service Central's Johnny Gray is ranked fourth and reigning Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan's Aaron's Dream Machine/Mopar team is 11th with two events remaining in the season.
"All our drivers look forward to racing at Las Vegas, a big part of the reason is staying at New York-New York," said Brown, who has won six NHRA titles this year. "We really don't have to leave New York-New York except to go to the racetrack."
