FIRST 2013 FORD GT500 SHELBY MUSTANG HEADED TO AUSTRALIA

Aussie Pro Stock team owners Paul and Scott Porter have just returned from the USA, where they took possession of the first 2013 GT500 Shelby Pro Stock Mustang to be built by Jerry Haas Race Cars.

The Porters, engine builder John Barbagallo and Chris McMillan travelled to the United States in mid-September where they spent three days at ZMax Dragway with Haas.

"John Barbagallo our engine builder, also has a close association with a number of teams and is highly regarded over there with his engine development program," said Paul. "John, Scott and Axle [McMillan] certainly shared some valuable information with these guys and John met up with his many suppliers at this meeting."

Following Charlotte, the crew then flew to St.Louis in Missouri and spent two days with Haas getting the car race ready for testing and going through the workings of the car. The NHRA inspected the car and gave a clean bill of approval for NHRA Pro Stock competition which mirrors the same body regulations as the Australian National Drag Racing Association.

"Our new 2013 GT500 Shelby features the latest technology in suspension, design and has been built to suit our new 400 cube JB engine, which we sent to Jerry prior to manufacture of the chassis" said Paul.

The team spent two days testing at Gateway International Raceway where Penske Shock Drag Car Manager Adam Lambert assisted the Porter team in setting up the suspension. When the test was completed the car was put in a container and shipped home to Queensland, Australia. The car is expected to arrive in early November.
