DSD 3085Khalid alBalooshi (Top Fuel), V. Gaines (Pro Stock) and Mike Neff (Funny Car) were all celebrating victories Monday at the Auto Plus NHRA Nationals in Reading, Pa.

No one was celebrating in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class.

With rain moving into the Reading area on Monday afternoon, the Pro Stock Motorcycle final round between the Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson teammates Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec was postponed until the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas Oct. 25-28.

Hines was at his best in the semis Monday, posting a national record run of 6.728 seconds to defeat Matt Smith’s 6.841-second performance. Hines ousted Wesley Wells and Chip Ellis in the first two rounds.

Hines’ national record run earned him a 20-point bonus towards the championship. Krawiec has a 17-point lead over Hines in the point standings.

Krawiec, the reigning world champ, reached the finals by beating Craig Treble, Karen Stoffer and Hector Arana Jr.

In the semis against Arana Jr., Krawiec clocked a 6.730-second run to easily defeat Arana Jr.’s 6.865-second effort.

Krawiec and Hines meeting in the finals is no surprise.

Krawiec and Hines, the only two Harley-Davidson riders in the class, had won 13 races in a row dating back to Las Vegas 2011 before having that string broke by Michael Ray in Dallas Sept. 23.

Krawiec started another streak as he beat Hines in the final round at St. Louis Sept. 30.

Prior to the Dallas event, NHRA announced a minimum weight increase of 10 pounds for the Harley-Davidson riders Krawiec and Hines. Beginning at Dallas, the minimum weight for Harley-Davidson motorcycles was 670 pounds.

Harley-Davidsons now weigh 55 pounds more than a Buell and 75 pounds more than a Suzuki.
