LARSEN JET TEAM TO UNVEIL NEW DRAGSTER

Larsen Motorsports of Daytona Beach will unveil the new Embry-Riddle Jet Dragster at a celebration scheduled for Friday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. during the 39th annual Turkey Rod Run at Daytona International Speedway.

Rookie Marisha Falk, who will drive the new car in the 2013 season, and fellow race car driver and team co-owner Elaine Larsen will sign autographs at the unveiling and the team will give a way promotional items.

Also on hand for the unveiling will be renowned chassis builder and fabricator Ben Worthy, who has advised the Larsen team, as well as several Embry-Riddle student interns who apply their specialized skills on a daily basis at the Larsen High Performance Vehicles Research & Development Center in Daytona Beach.

“The all-new custom car built for Marisha has a number of new innovations and has an entirely new custom paint scheme,” said Chris Larsen, co-owner of Larsen Motorsports.

Meanwhile, in an effort to expand their now nationally recognized jet-racing teams, the Larsen’s have started construction on three more state-of the-art jet dragsters at Embry-Riddle's western residential campus in Prescott, Ariz.

Falk’s current 5,000-horsepower hot rod, which has won three Best Engineered Awards from some of the most prominent sanctioning bodies in the world, will be retired at the end of the 2012 season to become a running backup and display car.

“Chris and Elaine Larsen gave me a great car to begin my rookie year, and I hate to see it go because it has taken good care of me,” Falk said. “Nevertheless, I’m really excited to get behind the

wheel of my new car and start putting some laps on her.” Falk and her Embry-Riddle team will begin conducting private testing of the new car in December and plan to race it in March 2013.

“The Thanksgiving Weekend Turkey Rod Run is the perfect place to unveil Embry-Riddle’s new jet dragster," said Elaine Larsen. “With Daytona International Speedway as the world center of motorsports and Embry-Riddle located right next door, the timing and location could not be better."

“It’s an honor to be invited to the show,” said Mike Mathes, crew chief for the Embry-Riddle team. “Some of the most talented Hot Rodders and custom car builders in the country attend the Turkey Rod Run. We’re privileged to be here in that kind of company.”

After the unveiling of the new car on Nov. 23, Falk will head to West Palm Beach, Fla., to race her current car that evening in the Citrus Nationals at Palm Beach International Raceway. The new car will remain on display at the Turkey Rod Run through the Thanksgiving weekend.
