SHAKEDOWN READY TO THUNDER AT ETOWN
The Shakedown Nationals, formerly known as the Shakedown at E'town, has become a doorslammer racing tradition over the last decade. This season's event is scheduled for October 11 - 14 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.
For Pro Mod fans, the $20,000-to-win prize brings out the best in many of its participants.
Among the highlights was the 2008 milestone performance of nitrous racer Jim Halsey. Halsey broke into uncharted territory with the first-ever five-second nitrous pass when he covered the quarter-mile course at 5.998 seconds.
Later in the same weekend Scott Cannon thundered to one of the quickest doorslammer passes in the world with his screw blower-equipped 1970 Plymouth SuperBird with a 5.73-second elapsed time at 252 miles per hour.
Some of those pre-entered include Jose Gonzales, Mike Castellana, Todd Tutterow, Donny Walsh, Shannon Jenkins, Robert Patrick, Pete Farber, Kevin McCurdy, Brad Brand and Bill Lutz.
Promoter and Founder of the Shakedown Nationals, Dave Hance, will also compete.
The event features not only Pro Mods, but also Top Sportsman, Outlaw 10.5, Limited Street, X275, Heavy Street, 8.50 Index, Pro Import and Pro Street Bike.
