LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE FOR LESENKO

The individual who coined the phrase 'lightning never strikes the same place twice' obviously wasn't at the NHRA Mac Tools Nationals in Indianapolis.
In consecutive runs, fuel Funny Car driver Todd Lesenko suffered a catastrophic engine failure resulting in body launching incidents.
"I left the starting line and I didn't see Jack, and all of a sudden, it was deja vu," Lesenko told ESPN2's Gary Gerould. "There was fire and flames. I knew I kept it in my lane, didn't cross the centerline. I won the round but I'm not sure we have another body to move on. We had a pretty good day all in all. We won a round at the U.S. Nationals, that's all I can say."
Weighing the good against the bad, winning always give an edge to the good.
"It's great to win a round at Indy," said Lesenko. "I don't feel really good about what happened to the car today. Unfortunately, that's the name of the game in nitro drag racing."
Lesenko, who had suffered broken ribs in a dirt bike accident some years ago, said after Saturday's incident he felt rib pain. Sunday's accident left him feeling more of the same kind of discomfort.
"The second day, it's kinda like training camp in football," said Lesenko. "You're a little sore."
