One creative NHRA fan will win a VIP experience to zMAX Dragway for the NHRA Countdown to the Championship opener, the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals, Sept. 14-16. The task: successfully nickname the 29-year old, affable Top Fuel pilot, Spencer Massey.
Don Schumacher Racing’s three Top Fuel drivers hold the top three spots in the Championship point standings and have all clinched spots in the NHRA Countdown.
Atop the standings is the highly entertaining, always charismatic, self-proclaimed “Brothaman” Antron Brown. Sitting in third is the winningest driver in Top Fuel history, seven-time NHRA world champion, “The Sarge” Tony Schumacher. Sandwiched in between them is their teammate, the fresh-faced, unassuming pilot of the FRAM/Prestone dragster, Massey: The Man with No Nickname.
Brown and Schumacher have teamed up with officials at zMAX Dragway to remedy this unfortunate situation and together they are calling for the passionate NHRA fans to find a suitable nickname for Massey before he returns to defend his 2011 win at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.
“The Snake, Greek, Cha Cha, The Bounty Hunter, King of Speed, TV Tommy, if you’re in Top Fuel, you’ve got to have a nickname,” said “The Sarge” Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army dragster.
Beginning on Aug. 21 and ending Sept. 5, fans can submit their suggested nickname for Massey by entering the Spencer Massey: The Man with No Nickname contest on zMAX Dragway’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/zMAXDragway. Massey will pick his favorite nickname and the winner will be announced on Sept. 7.
The winner will receive two suite tickets and two Don Schumacher Racing hospitality packages, along with free parking for Sunday, Sept. 16, during final eliminations at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.
Nicknames submitted must be family-friendly or they will be disqualified.
