Bruce Litton and the Lucas Slick Mist Top Fuel Team have done it again. It’s not uncommon to find this team in the winner’s circle and after the International Hot Rod Association’s Canadian tour, Litton and Lucas Oil have done it again, now crowned the IHRA Canadian National Champion.
“Canada has always been good to us,” told Litton. “We enjoy racing there. The fans are great and are huge supporters of Lucas Oil. Winning the Canadian National Championship is very special for us not only because of the great honor, but also because of Lucas’ huge following there.”
In a series of four races Litton’s Lucas Oil Dragster was in three finals with one win and two runner up finishes. At the Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals Litton made a sweep, scoring not only a win, but also top speed and low ET of the weekend. The Lucas Slick Mist Dragster clearly dominated the weekend. Building on this, Litton and the Mike Wolfarth led crew gained two final rounds in Grand Bend at the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals to wrap up the Canadian National Championship.
“We’re obviously very excited about this honor,” told Litton. “We owe a tremendous amount of our success to the Lucas Oil Company. This is our 16th year with Lucas Oil and Forrest and Charlotte Lucas have been wonderful supporters of our team throughout our partnership together. I cannot say enough about them and what they do for our team, drag racing and motorsports as a whole. They are a very special couple and there are numerous teams and organizations who owe them a huge part of their success. I know I, for one, am very grateful for all they’ve done.
“We have many others who help us both on and off the track. Randall Rodine and his team at Aerodine Composites came on board with us this year. They are a wonderful group of people who put their heart and soul into what they do. Their carbon fiber parts are found on almost all teams in every division of motorsports. United Trailers has been with us for a number of years and we count on their transports to get us to and from the race every weekend. These guys and many others like Hedman Hedders, Fel-Pro, Champion Spark Plugs, Ross Pistons, Justice Brothers and Allegra Printing are also essential to our team and deserving to share the spotlight in our success.
“Being behind the wheel I often receive much of the accolades, but my crew, with Mike Wolfarth heading up the team as Crew Chief, really deserve the credit. They’re one of the best teams in the business and I’m proud to be a part of such a hardworking and dedicated crew.
“Above all else, we give glory to God for everything He has done for us. As Lord of all and of my life, He receives all glory. It’s His power and His grace that allows us to do the things we love each and every day.”
Remaining humble through his years of success, Litton adds another title to his résumé and another breath of gratitude for his sponsors, his crew and his God.
