PINKS AT ROCKINGHAM

PINKS: All Out, the popular spin off show to SPEED hit reality series, PINKS, will be shooting episode five at Rockingham (N.C.) Dragway on Saturday, April 7. Hosted by Rich Christensen, PINKS: All Out is an all-day, open competition where more than 300 grassroots drag racers will be competing for a $10,000 grand prize.

Called ‘the hottest car show on television,’ by Hot Rod magazine, the PINKS: All Out production begins with time trials in the morning, selection of finalists in the afternoon and PINKS: All Out 16 eliminations beginning at dusk. More than 20,000 people attended the two most recent PINKS: All Out shoots at Houston Raceway Park in Texas and Moroso Motorsports Park in southern Florida. Pullin Television, out of Los Angeles, produces both this show and the original PINKS, which as a brand, made its debut in February of 2005.

“When listening to the fans of PINKS, the one thing that always comes up is the issue of sandbagging or cheating,” said host Rich Christensen, a native of North Hampton, Iowa. “PINKS: All Out was my answer to that. This is an opportunity to allow everyone to run all out – no holds barred – and those who are caught bending the rules will be thrown out of the competition.

“The thing is, no one knows what the standard will be going into time trials,” Christensen added. “When we pick those 16 cars, we’re looking for the most interesting cluster of racers within a certain index, which may be at 10.50 seconds or 11.50 seconds - I don’t care. It’s all about what’s going to make the best television show for the audience. There’s a huge grassroots base for drag racing in North and South Carolina – so Rockingham is going to see a great show.”

Track Owner/President Steve Earwood talked about the arrival of PINKS to his race track.

“PINKS has generated more excitement at ‘The Rock’ than the Metallica concert we had several years ago,” Earwood said. “We’ve received hundreds of e-mails and phone calls since we released the date last Wednesday. In fact, we filled all 300 open spots in the first 48 hours. I have to admit that we were a little surprised when 30,000 fans showed up for last September’s ‘Dragstock’ Pro Mod event, but PINKS is no surprise. Obviously, it’s going to be the largest ‘street race’ ever in the Carolinas.”
