WORSHAM NOMINATED FOR ESPY

Del Worsham has been nominated for a 2012 ESPY in the category of Best Driver.

Worsham, the defending NHRA Top Fuel series champion scored eight victories during the 23 race season as a Top Fuel driver for the Al-Anabi Racing Team. He was later presented with NHRA Fan Choice Awards for both Driver of the Year and Story of the Year.

Worsham announced his retirement as a Top Fuel driver a week later. Immediately he was named crew chief of the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrόn Toyota Camry Funny Car team, driven by Alexis DeJoria. Although no longer in the driver’s seat, Worsham, who has driven both a Funny Car and Top Fuel dragster, is still regarded throughout the NHRA pit area as one of the best drivers around.

“I’m so honored to be nominated with this award," said Worsham. "I appreciate all the years of fan support and look forward to many more successful years in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.”

The ESPYs, an award show hosted by ESPN, is a celebration of the best sports stories of the previous year, leading fans through the year's best plays, biggest upsets and most outstanding performances across all sports. The 2012 ESPYs will be hosted by actor/comedian Rob Riggle and will take place on Wednesday, July 11 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, airing live on ESPN/ESPN HD at 9PM EST.
