winter_rod_speedWinter Rod and Speed Show to Feature a Salute to Woodburn Dragstrip and former NBA Players Scott Haskin and Charley Sitton

The 2012 Winter Rod and Speed Show will be held at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany, Oregon on January 7th. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Cancer Association.

The event promoted by blown alcohol dragster racer Rich Bailey includes a salute to Woodburn Dragstrip, one of the most active tracks on the west coast and yet one of the most historic facilities still in operation. There will be dragsters, a funny cars and alterd on display. In addition, inspiring racers can try their skill on a full size NASCAR simulator.

Besides the over 100 cars that will be on display, the event will be a homecoming for former Indiana Pacers Center and Power Forward Scott Haskin and former Mavs forward Charley Sitton, who return to the Corvallis-Albany area for a special appearance. Both played basketball at near by Oregon State University. They will be at the car show to sign autographs and talk basketball. Haskin was an admitted gear head before playing basketball professionally.

A model car competition will also be contested at the show. Last year over 100 models were entered according to nationally known model car figure Ed January who will also be at the show. Modelers can enter there cars for free at the show.

Admission is just $7.00 and kids 10 and under are free. Parking is free courtesy of NAPA Auto Parts. Show hours are 9AM to 7PM, Saturday, January 7.
