MUNCIE DRAGWAY JOINS NHRA LIST OF TRACKS

NHRA has announced the addition of Muncie Dragway to its roster of member tracks beginning with the 2007 racing season. The Indiana track, on Highway 67 between Muncie and Albany, is owned and operated by Roger Plate.

Racers from the track's 2007 points series will qualify for the North Central Division NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals to be held in Indianapolis Sept.14-16. Division champions from each of NHRA's seven geographic divisions advance to the $118,000 NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship held in conjunction with the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., Nov. 1-4.

Muncie Dragway will also host NHRA special events, including the National DRAGSTER Challenge, NHRA King of the Track, and NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Dragster Challenge. Additionally, the track will continue to run weekly racing programs, April through October, for high school, street legal, and Sportsman bracket racing competitors. A number of special events are being planned, including the annual Night of Fire.

“We are pleased to welcome Muncie Dragway to the NHRA member track network,” said Jay Hullinger, NHRA North Central Division director. “We look forward to working with Roger Plate to enhance their existing racing programs and bringing their racers benefits that only NHRA can offer.”
