TOP FUEL TEAM NOMINATED FOR MARKETING AWARD

Top Fuel Dragster start-up team vies for inaugural award with NASCAR racing veterans Lowe’s Motorsports and DuPont Motorsports

Scott Griffin’s Serta sponsored Top Fuel drag racing team has been selected as a finalist for the North Carolina Motorsports Association Motorsports Industry  marketing award. The Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the area of event and program marketing by companies which manage, create, and activate marketing campaigns. As a result of SGM’s efforts, Serta inked Accor hotels, whose brands include Motel 6 and Red Roof Inn. Accor has long been a supporter of the National Hot Rod Association through numerous marketing campaigns most notable of which is the “Who Got the Light” award.

The awards, which cover all facets of the Motorsports Industry, will be made at the NCMA banquet on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Embassy Suites and Convention Center, Charlotte, North Carolina. Other finalists include NASCAR  veterans Lowe’s Motorsports and DuPont Motorsports. Benny Parsons, International Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee and 1973 NASCAR Cup Champion, will be honored with the NCMA Motorsports Achievement Tribute Award which began with the Bill France Tribute Dinner in 2004.

The nomination caps a Scott Griffin start-up drag racing season that included an impressive array of top qualifying and elimination rounds highlighted by the Suzuki Motor City Nationals in Milan, Michigan. The team, crewed by veteran Lance Larsen and driven by Andrew Cowin, qualified #1, set a new track speed record, and went on to claim its first victory.

“This is a very special honor for this team,” said Jim Brandhorst, Vice President, and Director, Marketing. “It really recognizes and underscores our commitment to driving our client’s business.”

“We’re very proud to have been nominated by the NCMA along side of the giants in Motorsports,” said team owner Scott Griffin. “ I think the 2006 season exceeded everyone’s expectations, including  mine. We’re all looking forward to a robust competition in 2007.”
