GOODWIN FOUND GUILTY IN MICKEY THOMPSON MURDER

After a lengthy prosecution, Michael Goodwin was found guilty of ordering the killings of Mickey and Trudy Thompson. Goodwin was found guilty on two charges of murder in a Los Angeles courtroom.

Goodwin had been in jail for five years awaiting trail. It took only six days of deliberations for the guilty verdicts. The expected sentence is life without parole.

"I'm sure they're some people in heaven smiling," said Thompson's sister, Collene Campbell. "This verdict doesn't bring anybody back to us, but it was the proper American thing that was done."

According to a Los Angeles Times report, prosecutors said Thompson was shot repeatedly but kept alive and forced to watch the murder of his wife, Trudy, before he was shot in the head execution-style. Because valuable jewelry and cash was left behind led the investigators to believe this was a vengeance killing. Goodwin went bankrupt after a business dispute with Thompson prior to the murders.
