BOXING DAY HAS ARRIVED

The two days of drag racing action that fans have been raving about over the last 12 months are here. Tonight the classic rivalry between the Aussies and the Americans will continue.

“Since this event last year I can’t believe the response we have had. The WSID office has been bombarded with questions regarding the second running of the event. This is pleasing to see. It goes to show that this kind of racing is what the fans want to see” exclaimed, WSID CEO, Jim Read The two days of drag racing action that fans have been raving about over the last 12 months are here. Once again fans will witness two of the world’s best drag racers, ‘Aussie’ Dave Grubnic and Scott Kalitta.

Scott’s last victory in a Top Fuel dragster came this time last year, right here at WSID. Since racing this event last year, Scott has made the move from Top Fuel to Funny Car.

“I’m really excited to be driving a dragster once again and even more excited to be doing it Down-Under. The fans down here are so appreciative of the racing which is really good to see” said Scott

On the other hand ‘Aussie’ Dave Grubnic is coming home to hopefully earn his first victory in his hometown. Should ‘Grubby’ be able to accomplish the feat, it would be his third win. Dave has won two NHRA national events in his career. The first during 2005 in Topeka Kansas and earlier this year in Gainesville Florida.

‘Aussie’ Dave is also a former winner of the prestigious ‘Big Bud Shootout’

“I am anxious to get back in the office. I loved racing at home last year and I am even looking forward to it more this year. I’m hungry for another win. I couldn’t think of a better place than right here in Sydney” remarked, Grubnic.

Top Fuel will be supported by Round 3 of the Australian Top Alcohol championship as well as a no holds barred eight car Top Doorslammer shootout.
