BADER TO RECEIVE FOUNDERS AWARD

The Board of Directors of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Ocala, FL have announced that Bill Bader, Sr. former IHRA owner/president and the major force behind the phenomenal growth of Norwalk Raceway Park in Ohio, will be the recipient of the Founders Award during the induction ceremony in March.   The Board of Directors of the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Ocala, FL have announced that Bill Bader, Sr. former IHRA owner/president and the major force behind the phenomenal growth of Norwalk Raceway Park in Ohio, will be the recipient of the Founders Award during the induction ceremony in March.  Bader helped grow NRP from a classic “mom ‘n pop”  drag strip into one of the nation’s most prominent facilities, one that features superior spectator amenities, an excellent racing surface and almost unmatched rapport with its neighbors.  NRP’s highly regarded Halloween Classic features almost 1,500 bracket racers, and is among the largest such events of its type nationally.  In addition to that grass roots event NRP’s infamous Night Under Fire spectacular is Northern Ohio’s largest single day motorsports event, while the IHRA World Nationals has been that sanctioning organization’s largest and most financially successful national event.  Although day-to-day operations of the track have been turned over to Bill Bader, Jr., it was under his father’s leadership that the track – and IHRA – showed significant growth.  In fact, it was the senior Bader’s leadership that ultimately resulted in the facility switching sanctions to NHRA, with the track set to host its first POWERade Series race in July of next year.  Bader will receive his honor during the 16th Annual Induction Banquet at the Paramount Plaza Hotel in Gainesville, FL on March 15, 2007.
