The Second Annual Thunder By the Beach – PMRA Challenge to be held Saturday and Sunday, September 1-2, 2007, will be one of several events next year for the PMRA, which enters into its third season with Pro Modified teams from Ontario and the states of New York and Michigan.

In its inaugural race at Grand Bend, Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls and Jerry Bowles of Gadshill made it to the final round, where the Smokin’ Joe’s Dodge Avenger of Boniferro took a close win over Bowles and his Diemond Motorsports ’41 Willys.

“Grand Bend is a great facility, a first class operation and a key market for our sponsors,” said PMRA Director of Operations Bruce F. Mehlenbacher. “Our teams enjoy running at the Bend, the fans appreciate a good show and love Pro Modifieds.”

The Grand Bend Motorplex is located on Lake Huron north-west of London, ON, Grand Bend is the home of the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals, and will host this event for the eighth time next season.

The PMRA and its member teams traveled to several new drag strips in 2006, including Sanair in Quebec, and the western Ontario tracks of St. Thomas Dragway and the Grand Bend Motorplex. The tour was a great success for the series, which enjoyed strong fan popularity.

Negotiations are underway to return to these tracks, along with Toronto Motorsports Park and Lancaster Raceway Park and several other venues to present some of the best in Pro Modified racing for 2007.
