FEEDBACK FRIDAY - CHANGES NEEDED ELSEWHERE

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I have been around drag racing since the early sixtys as a fan and crew member.
If NHRA really wants to make some positive changes I suggest that they go back
to the 90% Nitro rule and require a lower (numerically higher) rear end ratio.
This should put less strain on the clutch pack and the cars should go quicker
but not necessarly faster. This rear end deal might need some tweaking (i.e. rev
limiter) but it could work.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - LOSING SIGHT OF THE PURPOSE

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

This is a topic I have been thinking about for several years now. NHRA seems to
have lost sight of it's original purpose in forming. It is no longer an
organization of the members it was formed to represent. It does not take
constructive criticism or meaningful suggestions from it"s members. I E-mailed
them four times last year and recieved only one response,"What do you mean the
points are posted incorrectly!". They were, and were corrected a few weeks
later. I realize sportsman racers are just filler at national events, but it
would sure would be nice to feel appreciated for our thousands of doller
investments and support of their "Big Shows". IHRA will be getting my business
this year. - E. Talbert, Oklahoma City, OK

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - DON'T MIMIC NASCAR

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I think NHRA is wrong in implimenting the new points system It is my opinion
they are just mimiking NASCAR. NHRA is not Nascar. The 2006 point races were
exciting & Dynamic. NHRA: Don't try to be a "me too" Your are the best
organization with the most fan involvement. Don't ignore your members. We don't
want the points system changed Please LISTEN to US!! - Chris Jeanotte, Rochest, NY.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - THE LAST STRAW

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

This is the last straw as far as my intrest in NHRA racing. I like to see the
Pro cars run but that isn't the only reason I go to the races. I love Comp
Elimanator racing and the red headed stepchild Pro Mod. Why would you  build a
500 plus inch motor to take off, fall on its face, and run 9.90s. To try and
copy another series doesnt make sence. Tell me why anyone would spend millions
to race half way through the year and find out they can not run for the
championship? - Barry Combs, Lebanon, OH

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - DISTASTE FROM ABROAD

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I totally agree with you! The NHRA has to much power and the clowns of the
circus, being the participants , have more or less nothing to say; just like
here on Aruba. I fully agree with you that the points system as it is has
produced real excitement during the last 2 years and I do not see that coming
with the new format. A format like yours with the season being divided in half
maybe would be more attractive to the fans than the format mandated by the NHRA.
For Top Fuel and Funny Car the format you are suggesting would have  given more
or less the same outcome, with Schumacher and Kalitta battling it out in TF and
Force and Capps battling it out in FC both on a more leveled playing field in
Pomona. That would have been the case in PS also, if I am not mistaken with
Anderson and Line battling for the title in Pomona. However, in PSB it probably
would have been a completely different result with Angelle being one of the two
last 'men' to stand, based on her performance in the first half of the year. And
I personally think that that is the direction into which NHRA wants to go, where
the drivers/teams do not get penalized by 'adhoc' performances.

Another
issue that bothers me about the NHRA is the situation with the cars and such
they/their sponsors have put available for the fans to win. We as foreigners are
the ones that have the biggest expenses to be at a race, and simply due to the
fact that we ain't residents we are not able to participate. However,
disregarding our higher expenses in airfare etc., we ain't getting any
compensation against our inability to participate in such drawings. I consider
that UNFAIR. I think we should get some compensation, such as getting discounts
on those highly-expensive entrance tickets, or be able to participate in the
drawings.

I hope you could start a new 'forum' like discussion on my
concern too!

Greetz and my best wishes for 2007 still. - Rignald Martis, Aruba

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - FOR THE PROFIT OF A FEW

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

Having been a Super Stock racer for 30 yrs I fully agree that the NHRA has been
run for the "profit"of the few! As a non-profit, the membership should have much
more input as to what goes on with the organization! - Lyn Laperriere , Milan, MI.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - FED UP WITH IT

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I gave up my NHRA Pro Stock license in the 70's. Although I spent the 80's on a Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Fuel team, I never rejoined NHRA. I have referred to NHRA as the mafia of motor sports for years, any organization has to have a President to lead them, but not a dictator. a leader is one thing, but everyone
that belongs should have a voice. - Russell Baker, Marshallville, AR.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - LEAVE MY WORLD ALONE

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

Very well conceived and written. Last month I signed a petition that circulated
against changing the current system. I asked that the NHRA to kill the idea and
not impact my much anticipated Sunday nights watching my sport of choice. Small
world, but mine. - George Turner, Hickory Corners, MI.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - CAN WE VOTE FOR CHANGE?

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I've many times voiced my opinion that if NHRA is the largest membership group
on the planet what good does it do for members? Can't we unite and tally up the
votes and instruct the people (NHRA board) who really work for us, what or
which way to go . Other than coupons , a sticker or pin and a hospitailty tent,
at selected events, and lets not forget National Dragster mag (the most boring
drag racing mag ever) why join ? Maybe we need to look deep in the NHRA
organization and change some non-profit by-laws, rules or whatever and see if
we, menbers, can make some changes. - Robert Keelan Jr., Milwaukee, Wisconsin

FEEDBACK FRIDAY - DEAL WITH THE DEVIL?

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Phil Burkart's 11th Hour Dismissal

Well I gotta tell ya that I am now a former fan of  the Worshams this is the
sort of crap I expect from the likes of DSR not them. Phil Burkhart had an
awesome year, and got sold out for sponsor money, to who?? Jeff Arend, a
perpetual wannabe. Im dissapointed Del but thats okay, im sure you will be too,
when you realize what you bought.  Selling your soul to the highest bidder aint
no way to make friends. - Chuck Fram, Windsor, ONT.
