FEEDBACK FRIDAY – BACK TO THE FUTURE - FUNNY CAR THROWBACKS

I am from Houma, La. and followed Leanard Hughes, Paul Candies, and Mark Oswald throughout my younger years.  I used to hang around their racing shop asking questions and just watching the guys build their toys with smiles and phrases such as "big pully goes fast for 'Gators" while mounting the blower pulley for a motor for the Gator Nats.  My mom would haul me to Southland drags and watch them run.  They were true champions!  All of the throwback cars in this article look great, and If I was a sponsor I would really think hard about making that happen. The picture' truly do wonders for representing their current sponsors while capturing the classic rides of the past. Great show! - Tommy Belisle

Kudos to Russell for his retro FC paint schemes. These look 100 times better than the corporate vinyl wraps that proliferate today. Most of today's designs look like they have been done by persons with absolutely no design sense whatsoever. (Sorry, but the various Torco Fuelers and Mike Ashley's funny cars are the most consistantly ugly cars I've ever seen on a racetrack.) It's about time someone with a solid set of graphic skills stepped up and delivered some very good ,modern interpretations of what flopper paint jobs of the 70's could look like if they were applied on today's racecars. Thanks to Russell for the effort. - Bryan Flach

Again, you outdid yourself - this was awesome - I like advertising and retro stuff so this was right up my alley. I told you I had the other one you did as one of my favorites - well, this is going right next to it. - Johnny Gilbert

Simpley Bitchin! No bus wraps ... they MUST be painted old school and hand lettered. I know just the guy - me.  Great stuff. -

Thanks for the great work. It shows how much better the artwork was when "corporate" wasn't involved. -

I Loved it. When do we get to see Throwback Top Fuelers next? -

This is the best story I've ever seen on Comp Plus! I love, love, love it. -

What an awsome idea! The cars now days may be a few clicks technically higher than what I enjoyed watching at OIR back in the 70's, but what an exciting way to bring a little nostalgia back to a great sport!  Go for it! -
