Thanks for this article. I couldn't agree more with John Medlen. There is so much that can be learned from every accident if only the powers that be would investicate them more throughly. No accident happens for freak occurance. There is always something that led up to it happening and what happend after. We all need to learn more about every incident and do something to make sure it can't happen again. I never like to here some one has given there life in this sport senselessly. I for one think we can't be safe enough and need to costantly leard more about whats going on with our cars to help prevent unfortunate tragedies from happening. I applaud John Medlen and John Force Racing for taking the initative to start the Eric Medlen Project. The racing world needs innovators like them.  - Craig Stiebeling

John Medlin hit the nail on the head except that the percent of people voluntarily promoting safety is about 5%. The other 95% won't do it unless they are pushed there kicking and screaming about how it's not affordable, etc, and every other lame excuse in the world. The price tag on safety is the cost of a life. Now, all you so called "experts" tell us that dollar amount. And this price tag applies not just to race cars and equipment. It applies to cars, trucks, planes, trains, and every other form of transportation. It's high time know nothing bureaucrats and accountants stopped running everything. All you hear from them is bottom line, bottom line. The bottom line is that they only care about their limited vision little worlds. The tail has wagged the dog far too long. It's time for the people who risk life and limb every day to start making the rules. - Ted Smith
