CP MOTORSPORTS - AT 4 TO 1 BETTING HARVICK WINS AT LAS VEGAS

Kevin Harvick scored his sixth consecutive first/second place finish as he captured the win in the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He also shredded his right year tire as he celbrated his first win of 2015 in the third race of the season.

“It’s so cool to win here in Las Vegas and start this West Coast swing off this way is pretty awesome,” exclaimed Harvick from Victory Lane. “Just to be in front of all these fans I’ve raced in front of since about the mid-‘90’s. It’s pretty special to win here. I’ve got to thank Jimmy John’s, Budweiser, Chevrolet, and everybody on this car that makes it go around; and all these guys and everyone at Stewart-Haas for what they do.”

CP MOTORSPORTS - DILLON DOMINATES BOYD GAMBLING 300

Former xfinity series champion Austin Dillon capped off a perfect Las Vegas xfinity weekend with his win in Saturday's Boyd Gaming 300. Dillon, driver of the #33 Rheem Chevrolet, led 183 of 200 laps en route to his third career xfinity series victory.

In addition to winning Saturday's race, Dillon also qualified on the pole for the event and was the fastest competitor in Friday's xfinity practice session.

Even though Dillon did lead a vast majority of the laps, he did not cruise to an easy victory. A hard charging Ryan Blaney forced Dillon to block almost every lane on the mile and a half racetrack over the final three laps.

CP MOTORSPORTS: TOM HIGGINS: THE LEGEND OF CURTIS TURNER

Awaiting the trick-or-treaters at my home on Halloween, I thought back 50 years to the most memorable ghoulish night of my life.

On Oct. 31, 1965, NASCAR fans and media attending the inaugural American 500 at N.C. Motor Speedway near Rockingham experienced a surprise treat that will endure for all time in the sport’s rich lore.

The first NASCAR race on the new track in the piney Sandhills was won in storybook style by legendary driver Curtis Turner.
