CP MOTORSPORTS - LOGANO SCORES ANOTHER BRISTOL WIN FOR PENSKE

Roger Penske has quite a legacy at Bristol Motor Speedway.
What started with Rusty Wallace throughout the 1990's now continues with Joey Logano, who grabbed his second straight win in the Irwin Tools Night Race and his third victory of the 2015 Sprint Cup season. Logano, who gave Penske his second Daytona 500 victory, now hands "The Captain" his 12th win at the .538-mile Tennessee track.
"It's cool to win here," Logano said. " Racing Kevin Harvick clean like that at the end was a lot of fun. It's so interesting how we ran such different lines and be the same speed on the racetrack. Interesting how that all works out and that's what makes Bristol so much fun to go around that you can drive around this place four or five different ways and have a lot of speed no matter how you drive it, it's what fits your style and what fits the setup of your car. We both found what works for us, and I really thought we were going to be able to pull away because I thought we were really good in the long run and then we didn't pull away, and I was like, uh-oh.
Logano held off a furious late race charge from Kevin Harvick to lead 176 of the race's 500 laps. At one point Harvick appeared to be within a car length of Logano but never could get close enough to make a move.
Logano explained he was focused solely on keeping his poise in order to hold off the defending champion.
"It was just all about working the lapped traffic at the end, not making mistakes and not getting bottled up in traffic and letting him get by," Logano explained. "It was a very exciting last 20, 30 laps for sure, and neat to be able to get a checkered flag again here at Bristol and pull that car up on top of the building here and get a big checkered flag and have a little bit of fun with the guys."
Harvick, driving the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet, was hit with two penalties on pit road and had to pass a lot of cars in order to grab the runner up finish.
"We had an interesting night," Harvick said. "We went to the back twice and passed a bunch of cars. I think all in all, it's just a huge credit to the team. They just keep bringing fast cars to the racetrack, and we're able to overcome a lot of things and everybody just keeps grinding away at whatever the circumstances are. We're able to overcome things and that's really what it's going to be about over the last 10 weeks.
"Obviously you want to win races, but we're in position and feel like we can get that momentum swing at any point, if it just starts going our way."
Harvick admits Bristol has been the site of much frustration for him.
"it's great to be part of a team like this and just really excited to be able to run like this at Bristol," Harvick explained. "This hasn't been notoriously my best racetrack. I know (crew chief) Rodney (Childers) loves it, but for me it's just frustrating. I get wound up pretty quick. But it's fun to be able to come here and be competitive."
Fast qualifier Denny Hamlin led 54 laps but was only able to bring home a third place finish.
Hamlin didn't believe he had a car capable of getting the win.
"I had a very average car for most of the night," Hamlin said. "I thought we were pretty good early, lost the handle on it when the track really got rubbered up a bunch, and then we got better there at the end, but we still just didn't have the speed to run with the front two guys on that last run. Could hang with them for the first part of the run, but then I couldn't work traffic that well and those guys were able to get away.
"Just a decent average day. Definitely not what we expected."
Jimmie Johnson finished in fourth with Clint Bowyer grabbing the fifth spot.
Brad Keselowski, who finished runner up in this race a year ago, came home in sixth place followed by Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and Ryan Newman rounding out the top ten.
Kyle Busch, who started on the front row alongside Hamlin, led 192 laps but an unscheduled green flag pit stop and a pit road speeding penalty forced him to the back of the pack and took away his chances of a fifth race win on the season.
Last week's winner at Michigan, Matt Kenseth, was forced out of the race with an expired engine just 110 laps into the race. Kenseth would finish 42nd.
