Denny Hamlin didn't slam his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch. Hamlin didn't bump Austin Dillon after a late race restart either.

Hamlin did; however, rub fenders with both of them and in the immortal words of fictional movie character Cole Trickle's crew chief Harry Hogge, 'Rubbing, son, is racing."

Hamlin was able to rub and nudge his way to the checkered flag in Saturday's Lakes Region 200 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The win is Hamlin's first win in Xfinity competition at New Hampshire and his second win of the season.

Hamlin, who started on the pole, appeared to make contact early with his teammate Kyle Busch, which sent the pair spinning. It didn't take Hamlin very long to find his way back to the front of the field in a car that Hamlin thought was the class of the field.

"We were able to get back up in the top ten within ten laps or so after that spin," Hamlin said. "I knew right away that our car was very, very dominant and I obviously tried a little bit too hard on that one restart with Kyle (Busch), we were on the bottom in kind of a vulnerable spot and I thought I got the jump on him good enough to where typically if you can get your nose out in front of the guy on the outside you typically can get enough air to hold your car down low. He drove it in there just as deep as I did and I think he ran the middle lane, that just gives the guy on the bottom no opportunity to hold his car down there and I just washed up into him and spun.

"Obviously we had a great car, we came through the traffic quick and knew from that point on we had a pretty good car. We just had to execute and try to get to the finish line first."

The race was far from an easy victory for Hamlin as a restart with 25 laps to go forced him to fend off second-place finisher Austin Dillon. Dillon appeared to make contact with Hamlin's car following the race.

Hamlin was just as angry with Dillon when he believed the driver of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet jumped the restart.

"I did feel like he (Austin Dillon) left early," Hamlin explained. "I was the control car and I was going to wait. I typically start early in the box on most restarts, and I was going to wait until late in the box. He took off right in the middle of the box, and I mean short of stacking the field up and just not going, I didn't want to wreck everybody behind me, so I just took off and conceded that he was just going to jump the start and really nothing was going to be done about it.

Hamlin believes he approached the race as a normal short track competition and downplays the magnitude of the riff between himself and Dillon.

"It's just heat of the moment," Hamlin said. "We were both racing for a win and I've been on the other side of somebody moving me out of the way for a race win inside twenty laps to go, especially on a short track. It happens. It's a part of short track racing. The two instances when I got into both Kyle and Austin, I didn't wreck anyone. Yes, I moved both of them up the race track but I definitely didn't spin anyone out."

Despite notching his 11th top ten finish of the 2015 Xfinity Series campaign, Dillon was far from thrilled with how Hamlin handled the laps following the race's final restart.

"It's disappointing because I had a good restart," Dillon said. "I cleared him off of two. I missed one corner; I'll take the blame for that. I got a little tight, car was just a little chattery tight there. He (Hamlin) got to me; I figured he was gonna race and he never even wanted to, he wrecked his teammate and then proceeded to try and wreck me. If I would've gotten back to him, it would've happened to him."

Dillon didn't believe the finish was a true example of short track racing and knows there is a history between himself and Hamlin.

"What is racing if you can't race side by side for more than a corner?," Dillon said. "He never even went through a corner with me, the whole race. He didn't want to. He just moved me, he missed the corner and wrecked me. I'm fine with racing rough; I promise you I can do it to anybody but if we're going to race like that I need to know before we get to the first corner. Give me a corner at least.

"I've reworked a relationship with Denny, he called me a spoiled rich kid in Texas, two years ago and I ate it. He said, 'Just the last name' and I said, 'My last name's Dillon not Childress but he is my grandfather.' I'll always act with class; everybody in the media knows that. I've worked my way here just like anybody else. With Denny acting like that, what does he want me to call him? You know? I don't do that, I know how to act."

Brad Keselowski, who won last season at New Hampshire, finished in third place. Kyle Busch managed to overcome the contact and snag a fourth-place finish.

"It was intense," Busch explained the contact with his teammate early. "I was loose and he was loose and two loose don't make a right."

Rookie Daniel Suarez rounded out the top five in his No. 18 Arris Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Chris Buescher, who struggled in qualifying, finished back in 14th place but managed to maintain his points lead over defending Xfinity Series champion Chase Elliott, who finished in ninth place.

The Xfinity Series will return to action again next Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
