Giovanni Scelzi is excited to take advantage of his next opportunity, which leads him overseas to race for the first time in Australia.

Scelzi will drive for Domain Ramsey and Bernie Stuebgen during five events in a nine-day span, beginning this Saturday at Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway in Bungador, Victoria, during the Allstars Challenge.

The team will then tackle the Presidents Cup at Avalon Raceway in Lara, Victoria, on Jan. 16. The Kings Challenge at Borderline Speedway in Mount Gambier, South Australia, is Jan. 17 before the trip wraps up at the 47th annual Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic hosted by Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria. Scelzi's preliminary night is Jan. 19 before the finale on Jan. 20.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity to race in Australia during some big events," Scelzi said. "I want to thank Domain Ramsey as well as Bernie and Betsy Stuebgen for this great opportunity."

While Scelzi hasn't competed in Australia, he was there two years ago to crew on a team that had his older brother, Dominic, behind the wheel.

"I enjoyed it over there," Giovanni Scelzi said. "Now I get an opportunity to race and compete against the top drivers in Australia. Plus, this will help break up the offseason and will hopefully keep me fresher going into our season in the United States."
