VIDEO: PHILLIPS' PERTH ACCIDENT

Aussie Top Alcohol racer Gary Phillips had a scary crash during Friday's competition at the Perth Motorplex in Australia.

Phillips, while competing in the Goldenstates event, suffered a parachute malfunction and drove his Lucas Oil-sponsored entry at a high rate of speed into the sandtrap. Phillips had recorded a landmark 5.469 second pass at a whopping 263.92mph (424.73kph) with the momentum of the carry carring him across the sand trap, into the darkness and through both catch-nets, stopping just three metres from the venue’s concrete perimeter fence adjacent to Thomas Road.

He was uninjured in the accident.
