JACKIE FRICKE'S PASSION FOR RACING FUELS HER TOP ALCOHOL DRIVE

 

Top Alcohol Dragster driver Jackie Fricke fell in love with the category at a young age. After seeing Top Alcohol Dragster on TV, she was hooked.

It also helped that her father Rich exposed her to the sport at a young age. He competes in the NHRA Summit ET Series.

Longtime motorsports broadcaster Joe Castello has a new podcast dedicated to the wildly popular SAMTECH.EDU Factory Stock Showdown series part of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events in 2019. The inaugural Factory Stock Podcasts are available now on Soundcloud and here as well as on Apple Podcasts. Castello is joined during each podcast by Brian Massingill, SAM Tech’s Vice President of Business Development who is also a successful sportsman racer in the Stock Eliminator class. The series is expanding to eight events in 2019 and Castello will host a pre and post-race podcast around every race featuring racers and industry insiders.

TAMEZ TURNS HEADS DRIVING HIS 727 EFI HEMI PUMP GAS ENGINE POWERED NOVA

 

When Frank Tamez arrived in Boise, Idaho, the first weekend of May for an NHRA Division 6 race, he didn’t know what to expect.

Not from his driving ability, but out of the 727 EFI hemi pump gas engine from Sonny’s Engines he had under the hood in his 1967 Nova, which was built by Advanced Chassis.

It’s safe to say the engine exceeded all expectations.

NATAAS FULFILLING CHILDHOOD DREAM ONE RACE AT A TIME

 

Julie Nataas knew she wanted to be a part of the drag racing scene from a young age. She grew up in Drøbak, Norway and followed in her father Thomas’ footsteps.

“I was basically born at the race track with my dad racing all the time,” Nataas said. “We moved to Drøbak when I was eight years old, and that became our hometown. It’s a small place -- an hour away from our capital (Oslo, Norway). And it’s by the ocean, and it’s cold. We got all four seasons there.”

BRACKET RACING ICON JOHNSON GETS HIS WALLY

Chip Johnson made the five-hour drive from his hometown of Fayetteville, N.C., to Commerce, Ga., by himself.

He made the return trip four days later with a passenger in the front seat   —   a guy named Wally.

Johnson has been chasing money and trophies at dragstrips east of the Mississippi for nearly 40 years. It dates back to age 16, when he began bracket racing the ’73 Duster he drove to school at Westside Christian School in Laurinburg, N.C.

CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE CHALLENGE SERIES SIZZLES IN MEMPHIS

 

Drivers were dialed in and deadly for the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series’ 13th Annual LSX Shootout, which was held along with the Inaugural Comp Cams NMCA Memphis Homecoming, May 2-5 at Memphis International Raceway in Tennessee.
