(9-11-2005) – Doug Foley was determined to show everyone at the Amalie Oil IHRA North American Nationals that Clay Millican wasn’t the only Top Fuel driver capable of winning an event using total domination as his game plan.
Joining in the winner’s circle celebration were the professional teams of Dennis Radford (Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified), Jim Sickles (Funny Car) and Frank Gugliotta (Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock).
Foley left no doubt in the final round as he drove around a quicker-reacting Clay Millican to score his second IHRA Hooters Top Fuel victory of 2005. His winning lap was a 4.835, 288.89 that quickly overtook Millican’s troubled 5.223, 203.68. Ironically, both of Foley’s wins have come from the top qualifying position.

IHRA President's Cup Nationals

(9-25-2005) - Nothing puts the cap on a weekend like clinching a world championship and winning the event at the same time. Newly crowned Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified champion Mike Castellana accomplished just such a feat as he captured his sixth career national event title during the Torco Race Fuels President’s Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md.
Other winners included Jim Sickles (Funny Car), Brian Gahm (Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock) and Clay Millican (Top Fuel).

IHRA World Finals

(10-30-2005) - It may have taken an extra three weeks
to complete, but it was well worth the wait. The Udderly Smooth World
Finals at Rockingham Dragway saw history times two as Rob Atchison used
a record setting day to claim his third straight Funny Car title and
Clay Millican won his unprecedented ninth consecutive race at the track
he has virtually owned since 2001. Joining Atchison and Millican in
the professional winners circle were Mike Janis in Torco Pro Modified
and Frank Gugliotta in Torco Pro Stock.
Fans were also treated to record setting performances in each of the
pro classes, as Millican demolished the Top Fuel standard with a pass
of 4.484 on Saturday night, Mike Bell backing up his record setting
pass of 6.046, Atchison posting a 5.685 on his way to locking up his
championship, and Robert Patrick setting the Torco Pro Stock record
with a pass of 6.360.
Atchison, from London, Ont., removed all doubt about the championship
picture when his record-setting run against Thomas Carter coupled with
Jim Sickles' trouble-filled shut down run against Fred Tigges propelled
the Canadian to his third straight crown.
