The Immaculate Inline Twins – Demon Juniors with Blower Aspirations


(4-19-2005) - The first production In-line twin carburetors to be boost-referenced for Roots-style superchargers recently emerged from Barry Grant’s company Demon Carburetion.

Chic and easy-on-the-eye, the In-line Twins are available in 525, 625, and 725 CFM. By being properly boost-referenced, the power valves in the carburetors become load-sensing devices and respond precisely to the demands of the supercharged engine.

Further, with eight venturi bores aligned with their corresponding intake runners, these Demon Inline Twins offer superb distribution and atomization, impressive fuel economy, they eliminate hesitation and surging, promote a stable idle and crisp throttle response, easy tuning, and stunning performance.

Speedtech develops a cleaner way to deliver the charge

(4-18-2005) - The ORSCA 10.5 Outlaw class and similar classes that limit tire size require multi-stage nitrous oxide systems for maximum performance. But with 4 different horsepower levels of nitrous induction, even the biggest manifolds run out of space for planting nozzles. The engine bay quickly becomes a plumber's nightmare of nitrous lines, creating a frustrating maze to work around at thrash time.

But now Speedtech, the nitrous innovation leader, is stepping in with a solution. "Brandon Switzer has engineered a diffuser plate system with a patented stainless steel insert for nitrous distribution," reported Speedtech's Jason Sharp. New XFI™ Camshafts Deliver Big Power Increases For Late-Model Chrysler Hemi 5.7 and 6.1-Liter Engines

Three different camshaft combinations net power increases up to 61 HP

(4-12-2005) - COMP Cams® New XFI™ (Xtreme Fuel Injection) camshafts for Hemi-powered Chrysler vehicles dramatically increase engine horsepower and torque, yet retain compatibility with all OEM vehicle computer systems. Available in three different profiles (XFI 260, 268 and 273); the new camshafts are application-specific with designs for street performance and towing.

In recent dyno tests on a Hemi engine using COMP’s #26918 beehive valve springs and upgraded exhaust, the XFI 260 netted 20 additional ft pounds of torque in lower rpm ranges with a peak of 31 additional hp. The XE 268 camshaft added 14 ft lbs of torque at low rpm and 47 additional peak horsepower. Blast From The Past: Edelbrock’s Ford Flathead 4-Barrel Manifold Now Available

(4-4-2005) - Vic Edelbrock Sr.'s first performance part was a manifold for a Ford flathead V8 that he tested on the dry lake beds of Southern California just before World War II. Edelbrock continues its love affair with flathead Fords by offering a new 4-Barrel manifold for them. It's a real blast from the past.

"The manifold is a reproduction of the vintage Edelbrock #452 two-piece manifold with a standard flange mounting [#1106]," said Jack Mayberry, Edelbrock vice president of R&D. "It will permit the use of modern, square-bore carburetors including the Edelbrock Performer Series and AVS Thunder Series."

Detroit Locker Introduces New Truetrac Applications for Ford 8.0” Axle


(3-29-2005) - Detroit Locker Company announces that the Detroit Truetrac limited slip differential is now available for Ford 8.0” axles built between 1964 and 1978 and used in such vehicles as early Mustangs 64-70, Mavericks, Fairlanes and Street Rods. Just Before the Break of Traction


(3-4-2005) – NitrousWorks™ introduces two new multi-stage nitrous kits for EFI engines: the twin nozzle (P/N 13100) and the triple nozzle (P/N 13101) systems. NEW PRO-SERIES COMPOSITE-BEARING SHAFT-MOUNT ROCKERS FROM CRANE

 

(3-4-2005) - Crane’s engineering team has developed a Pro-Series version of the company’s revolutionary new composite-bearing shaft-mount rocker arm system. The Pro-Series, which is designed for all-out competition, has several extra enhancements over the popular Sportsman Series. These include lightened and impinged (shot peened) rocker arms, as well as lightweight scalloped stands.

The Pro-Series shaft rocker arms also employ Crane’s exclusive Quick-Lift™ technology, where the pushrod seat is specially located to accelerate valve events (a 1.6 ratio rocker initially opens the valve at a 1.72 rate). Another key factor in their increased efficiency of the Pro-Series shaft rocker arm system is the use of special composite bearings —which eliminates the constant inertia reversal with each cycle and high unit loading common to needle bearings. Moreover, use of the composite bearing has enabled Crane to significantly increase the shaft cross-section area (100% more than the competition), which improves high RPM stability. The shaft is also micro-polished to reduce friction.

Additionally, a special alloy has been developed for Crane that is metallurgically engineered to maintain its strength at the elevated temperatures (+200-300°F) where rocker arms typically operate, as opposed to “aircraft” alloys designed for sub-zero flight conditions. With up to 60% greater strength, they have increased resistance to deflection —even when high-load value springs are used.

Pro-Series shaft mount rocker arms are initially available for small block Chevy and small block Ford applications in all popular ratios.

NEW ARP® HEAD STUD KITS FOR CUMMINS® DIESELS


(3-1-2005) - To overcome head gasket failures that can occur in turbo-boosted Cummins® diesel engines employed in truck and RV applications, industry leader ARP® has introduced extra heavy-duty head studs for the popular 5.9 liter powerplant. ARP® part number 247-4203 covers 1994-98 (mid) 12-valve models and p/n 247-4202 fits mid-1998-2003 24-valve engines. Studs are nominally rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength, and provide the clamping force required to keep cylinder heads from lifting due to higher combustion pressures.

The studs are manufactured in ARP’s Santa Paula, CA plant from proprietary “ARP® 2000” material, with threads rolled after heat-treat to provide optimum fatigue strength. They are centerless ground to assure perfect concentricity. The ends of the studs are broached to facilitate easy installation. This feature also enables the cylinder head to be removed in tight quarters.

Also included in each kit are heat-treated chrome moly steel nuts (12-point) and parallel-ground washers. They are black oxide finished for extra durability. Soon to be released are head stud kits for Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel applications.
