NEW PRO-SERIES COMPOSITE-BEARING SHAFT-MOUNT ROCKERS FROM CRANE
(3-4-2005) - Crane’s engineering team has developed a Pro-Series version of the company’s revolutionary new composite-bearing shaft-mount rocker arm system. The Pro-Series, which is designed for all-out competition, has several extra enhancements over the popular Sportsman Series. These include lightened and impinged (shot peened) rocker arms, as well as lightweight scalloped stands. The Pro-Series shaft rocker arms also employ Crane’s exclusive Quick-Lift™ technology, where the pushrod seat is specially located to accelerate valve events (a 1.6 ratio rocker initially opens the valve at a 1.72 rate). Another key factor in their increased efficiency of the Pro-Series shaft rocker arm system is the use of special composite bearings —which eliminates the constant inertia reversal with each cycle and high unit loading common to needle bearings. Moreover, use of the composite bearing has enabled Crane to significantly increase the shaft cross-section area (100% more than the competition), which improves high RPM stability. The shaft is also micro-polished to reduce friction. Floor and Tunnel Shield was designed to be used underneath vehicles to stop heat before it gets into the vehicle. Most heat barriers simply rest on the floor pan and insulate against the heat. The problem is the heat is already in the vehicle and will stay there. (2-2-2005) - Finally a performance
replacement coil for the popular Gen III GM small block! This engine,
most notably the LS-1 and LS-6, is fast becoming a favorite performance
engine. But, not just in Camaros, the new GTO and Corvettes - also in
muscle cars and street rods.
The complex electronic controls of the original coils presented the
aftermarket with a challenge as the drivers that control the firing
of the coils are built into the OE models. MSD engineers were able to
design an advanced circuit that will operate with the factory electronics
of the Gen III engine controls while producing a higher output spark.
Not only do you get a higher voltage spark, but the coil will deliver
multiple sparks! That’s right - multiple spark discharge coils!
Notice that the coil has two connectors molded into the custom housing.
One accepts the factory coil connector, the other is for an upcoming
ignition controller. (This controller is still in the development stages
but it will allow you to program functions of the ignition. We’re
planning a lot more for the Gen III fans!) The new coils mount in place

cylinder head from Barry Grant, Inc.

- Barry Grant’s new aluminum three-valve cylinder heads
are designed with two inlet valves of 1.4” diameter and a conventionally
sized exhaust. At .500” of lift, the new three-valve arrangement
produces a curtain area that is almost 40% greater than a 2.02”
two-valve design.
In addition, since the inlet valves are much smaller, the valve springs are smaller and lighter. Lighter valve seat pressures allow the engine to rev higher and more reliably. (The bigger the valve, the greater the seat pressure and spring rate to control it.) Further, though the new three-valve heads demonstrate excellent cylinder filling with low-lift camshafts in production and mildly tuned engines, on high performance and racing engines they will outperform conventional cylinder heads.
Created for use on conventional small-block Chevy engines, Vortec-headed small blocks, and pre-86 Chevy LT1 engines, this new cylinder head is ideally suited for use on street and custom rods; street/strip and muscle cars; drag, oval, and road race cars; as well trucks, boats and off-road vehicles.
