Pretty Fly For An Old Guy
All I Want For Christmas Is...
by Roger Richards

All I want for Christmas is:

Quarterly DragStock Pro Mod events. One in each of the four corners of the United States so that everyone can enjoy what we did at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC.

At least 10 Nitrous Pro Mod cars that can run 6.09.

A Top Fuel tire safe at 375 mph and V-groove Goodyear blower belts for all.

Gary Densham’s vocabulary and Clay Millican’s enthusiasm for all drivers at interview time.

IHRA and NHRA to allow any or all tracks to be sanctioned by both bodies. There is money to be made if you would just think about it.

A multi-year sponsorship for my good friends Carl and Donna Baker.

A new right lane at Pomona (this is also on Whit’s list)

Enough alcohol funny cars to guarantee a 16-car field in IHRA and soon enough to reverse the latest decision.

A schedule to allow me to attend every race in every sanctioning body….I think there would need to be about 67 weeks in the year.

Gas for $1 a gallon and a motor home that gets 50 miles per gallon

RaceGirl should provide a crew of 20 trained women to back up all the cars at national events.

Food at the concessions that tastes good and is reasonably priced. Just one of the two would be a great start.

Weekly deadlines that only happen once a month.

A laptop battery good for 8 hours with a 2-hour charge time that only weighs 2 ounces.

Enough 500-inch Pro Stock and Mountain Motor Pro Stock cars at the CompetitionPlus.com Spring Open to field a 16-car shootout with the little guys taking on the big guys. The average #1 qualifying time for the class last year will be the index with no breakouts. I think that would be cool to watch.

A GPS (Geezer Positioning System) in my van that will not only tell where I am but what I am doing there.

A spell check feature in my pencil so that I can take better notes during interviews.

To be present to see the first 6.30 run in ProStock.

To be present when Bobby Lagana wins his first national event.

To survive the celebration after Bobby Lagana wins his first national event.

To go an entire season and not have a rain out.
