(10-14-2004) - Speedtech has not only raised the bar with its nitrous systems, but has eliminated it in one fell swoop. (10-13-2004) - Dodge leap-frogs ahead of the diesel competition with the new Cummins 600 engine available in 2004.5-model 2500 and 3500 Ram Heavy Duty pickups. This engine produces a class-leading 600 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm while cranking out a peak 325 horsepower at 2,900 rpm. Edge Products, an industry leader in diesel performance technology, announces its new EZ plug-in engine module that increases Cummins 600 performance by 65 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
Edge technology recalibrates signals between the truck's PCM and its Cummins 600 engine. Fueling and turbo boost are enhanced to create the power gains. The EZ module offers three different power modes for the driver to select among from in the cab, on the fly. Level 1 increases power by 25 HP/50 lb-ft of torque for better towing performance. For daily driving, Level 2 boosts stock output by 45 HP/75 lb-ft at the rear wheels. Level 3 is for all-out performance and increases power by 65 HP/150 lb-ft. Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) rises with each power level, so aftermarket gauges – pyrometer and turbo boost – are recommended when installing the Edge Cummins 600 EZ. Installation takes about 5 minutes: two underhood plugs and routing a toggle switch into the cab. The sealed, weather-resistant EZ module secures to the fuse-box cover, and factory-style connectors permit the module to be plugged into the MAP sensor harness and fuel-pressure sensor connector.
Real-world improvements include increased hill-climbing speed when towing loads up grades. Fuel economy often improves by up to 10% in the process because the truck's fueling curves are more efficient.

(10-12-2004) - PerTronix claims their new plug and play billet distributor for Ford 221-302 CID engine applications is designed to provide maximum ignition performance and easy installation all at a price you can afford.
This distributor allows you to upgrade your outdated points or stock electronic distributor with a performance proven distributor that features the patented Ignitor II? electronic ignition module and a CNC machined 6061 T-6 polished billet housing and deck.
PerTronix electronics is also compatible with any inductive ignition system coil, but high RPM performance can be improved when used with their low resistant (0.6 ohm) Flame-Thrower II? coil. If you’re using a capacitive discharge system or the Pertronix Second Strke box, no problem, the PerTronix distributor is compatible.

(10-5-2004) – Small-block Chevrolet engines get bolt-on power with vintage style thanks to Edelbrock’s new C-26 Dual-Quad manifold (#5426) for 1996 and later Chevy V8s with Vortec (L31) cast iron or Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum heads.
New for 2004, the C-26 Vortec manifold allows hot rods and customs to keep the vintage dual carb look they desire while using modern heads. This manifold is low profile for hood clearance, and has good fitment on GM Fast Burn cylinder heads. It’s designed to provide power for 262-400 c.i.d. engines working in the 1500-6500 rpm range.
An external water bypass boss is machined into the front of the water crossover for use on 1996 and later Vortec production engines.
For low-end torque, use with Edelbrock’s Performer-Plus cam (#2102) or, for top-end power, Edelbrock’s Torker-Plus cam kit (#5002) is your answer. (9-23-2004) - The NEW Hypertech Power Tuning Module
#41042 maximizes the performance of 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engines in
2003-04 Ford trucks and SUVs and delivers the most powerful, street-legal
tuning available for towing the maximum loads allowed by vehicle
manufacturers! Only Hypertechís exclusive 3 Stage Tuning delivers power
for safe towing, even at the highest horsepower gains. Other tuning
devices may make large horsepower gains, but at these levels, are not

(9-15-2004) - Second Strike is the only ignition system to provide a powerful second spark throughout the entire RPM range, unlike other multiple spark discharge systems, which typically drop off to one spark at about 3000 RPM. This micro controller based ignition supplements most inductive type systems (points, GM HEI, Ford TFI and Duraspark, Ignitor and Ignitor II) with a powerful capacitive discharge second spark resulting in more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture. Increased burn time at very high RPM levels also reduces misfires resulting in more peak horsepower and torque. No special distributor or coil is required. A simple five-wire hookup to your existing system completes the installation.
Second Strike’s unique crank angle offset (CAO) feature permits you to time the second spark in crank angle degrees to occur after the primary spark with a simple external adjustment dial. A wide range of adjustment (2 to 18?) allows you to experiment with the CAO that works best for your engine’s performance or your driving profile. The CAO feature can be operated while the engine is running to assist experimentation for optimum settings.
A digital rev limiter protects the engine from possible overrev condition. Their system combines both random and a sequential pattern of spark stealing to control RPM. Pertronix claims the benefit of random spark stealing is quicker response time to an over rev limit event while sequential stealing is less invasive to the engine because sparks are not completely dropped allowing the engine to ignite any unburned fuel to keep the cylinders clean and avoid damaging exhaust detonation. Second Strike comes standard with an output compatible with most modern tachometers requiring no interface adapters.
