The Ultimate Nitrous Nozzle!


(11-13-2004) - “The secret’s out, and this is what propelled us,” said Tommy Bolton, builder and tuner of the world’s quickest and fastest gasoline powered motorcycle after his screamin’ yellow Kawasaki Funnybike laid down a pass of 6.60 at 213 mph in the hands of Glen Nickelberry.

Tommy was talking about the Speedtech Compact Liquid Force system, the ultimate in direct port nitrous injection. Created for precise distribution of nitrous and fuel for domestic and foreign carbureted/EFI 4 cylinder motors, the Speedtech systems offer superior atomization and tuning by injecting precisely measured amounts of fuel and nitrous into each individual port with the Liquid Force nozzle. Horsepower levels are easily adjusted, by jetting at the nozzle, from 75 to 300 HP.

“It siphons the fuel out of the fuel nozzle, so it atomizes the fuel right then,” continued Bolton. “They were the talk of the Pro Mod pits in Gainesville (site of the recent AMA/Prostar World Finals).”

The liquid force nozzle has a much more port-shaped pattern that does not allow the fuel to wash down the port walls like it does with a fan-spray type nozzle. The Speedtech nozzle helps promote engine airflow rather than disrupt it. “It is very hard in a 90 degree nozzle to achieve a low pressure fuel draw that is predictable and consistent from nozzle to nozzle,” said Jason Sharp of Speedtech. “Our design provides this action in a repeatable fashion, with the v-notch in the fuel circuit to relieve any buildup of nitrous pressure at the tip of the fuel passage.

“With its one piece design, not having any type of tube is another area that benefits with repeatability. With a fuel tube in a 90 degree nozzle, if the length of the tube varies at all the vacuum draw on the fuel circuit is changed drastically.”

The Speedtech system provides an extremely atomized discharge by blowing the nitrous across the fuel channel, shearing the fuel without shutting off the fuel supply by having that notch in the fuel circuit, and maintaining a tight cone-shaped discharge—that is the key to the Liquid Force nozzle. These are the same Speedtech nozzles used by the Pro Mod Camaros of NHRA Las Vegas winner Shannon “The Iceman” Jenkins and Mike Castellana.

Liquid Force nozzles are $62.50 (US) each. Complete kits with stainless steel solenoids, stainless jets, aircraft quality lines, and CNC-machined aluminum distribution blocks are also available.

Low Cost Tuning with High End Results

(11-2-2004) - PLX Devices introduces the M-250 wideband oxygen sensor controller and PLX 2 1/16” display gauge for gas engines. Together both components make an affordable way to tune engines from premature detonation in lean conditions, maximizing power in rich conditions, as well as improving fuel economy.

Combining versatility with style, the compact M-250 and PLX gauge can be fitted to virtually any gas powered engine. Coupled with air/fuel ratio (AFR) measurements accurate up to 0.1 AFR, the M-250 with gauge gives a technological advantage to gasoline engines.

Roughly 2”x 4”, the M-250 wideband controller is easily integrated into any gas powered vehicle or vessel. A Bosch wideband oxygen sensor and an 8ft. plug and play wire harness are included with the controller for quick installation. Once installed, the self-calibrating controller begins to measure the car’s AFR via the oxygen sensor installed in the engine’s exhaust system. With an analog wideband output signal updating at 100,000 times per second, the M-250 is ideal for interfacing with a wide variety of applications such as engine diagnostic tools, data loggers, and engine management systems.

Complimenting the M-250 is the available 2 1/16” gauge, in white or black varieties. Designed to industry specifications, the gauge fits into standard 2 1/16” (52mm) gauge pods, mounts, pillars, and cups. Gauges feature a three-digit display and an integrated digital needle, and properly display AFR accurate up to 0.1 AFR.

Dodge Cummins 600 Rams Get 150 More Lb-Ft Of Torque From Edge Products EZ Module

(10-13-2004) - Dodge leap-frogs ahead of the diesel competition with the new Cummins 600 engine available in 2004.5-model 2500 and 3500 Ram Heavy Duty pickups. This engine produces a class-leading 600 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm while cranking out a peak 325 horsepower at 2,900 rpm. Edge Products, an industry leader in diesel performance technology, announces its new EZ plug-in engine module that increases Cummins 600 performance by 65 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

Edge technology recalibrates signals between the truck's PCM and its Cummins 600 engine. Fueling and turbo boost are enhanced to create the power gains. The EZ module offers three different power modes for the driver to select among from in the cab, on the fly. Level 1 increases power by 25 HP/50 lb-ft of torque for better towing performance. For daily driving, Level 2 boosts stock output by 45 HP/75 lb-ft at the rear wheels. Level 3 is for all-out performance and increases power by 65 HP/150 lb-ft. Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) rises with each power level, so aftermarket gauges – pyrometer and turbo boost – are recommended when installing the Edge Cummins 600 EZ. Installation takes about 5 minutes: two underhood plugs and routing a toggle switch into the cab. The sealed, weather-resistant EZ module secures to the fuse-box cover, and factory-style connectors permit the module to be plugged into the MAP sensor harness and fuel-pressure sensor connector.

Real-world improvements include increased hill-climbing speed when towing loads up grades. Fuel economy often improves by up to 10% in the process because the truck's fueling curves are more efficient.

(10-5-2004) – Small-block Chevrolet engines get bolt-on power with vintage style thanks to Edelbrock’s new C-26 Dual-Quad manifold (#5426) for 1996 and later Chevy V8s with Vortec (L31) cast iron or Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum heads.

New for 2004, the C-26 Vortec manifold allows hot rods and customs to keep the vintage dual carb look they desire while using modern heads. This manifold is low profile for hood clearance, and has good fitment on GM Fast Burn cylinder heads. It’s designed to provide power for 262-400 c.i.d. engines working in the 1500-6500 rpm range.

An external water bypass boss is machined into the front of the water crossover for use on 1996 and later Vortec production engines.

For low-end torque, use with Edelbrock’s Performer-Plus cam (#2102) or, for top-end power, Edelbrock’s Torker-Plus cam kit (#5002) is your answer. Edelbrock also offers the throttle linkage, carburetors, and fuel inlet to allow consumers to put an entire dual-quad package together for a nominal price.

Murray Anderson's 1967 Camaro Body Now Available in North America Through Cynergy Composites Inc. of Ontario Canada

(10-4-2004) - Tim Hodgins of Cynergy Composites Inc is pleased to announce the recent acquisition the original "steel, hand-crafted" plug for the now famous Murray Anderson 67' Camaro, and has already begun manufacturing the "Baddest Camaro Body" on the planet.

Australia's famed door slammer builder Murray Anderson's three-year transformation odyssey of his '67 Camaro resulted in the sleekest and slipperiest nostalgia body on the planet. With overwhelming interest by North American racers Cynergy Composites of Canada acquired the plug directly from Anderson Race Cars of Australia. By having the bodies manufactured in North America it will eliminate the geographic limitations of exporting bodies from Australia.

This is the same body used by Lucky Balleri when he set the ANDRA (Australian Drag Racing Association) Top Door Slammer Top Speed record of 239.86 miles per hour. It's also the same body campaigned by Brad Anderson and Jay Payne in NHRA Pro Modified competition. Cynergy Composites is now making the 67' body available to YOU!

The 67' body is the latest addition to Cynergy Composites' growing line of "aircraft quality" products, which includes: 2002 Camaro and Firebird Pro Stock Replica's, 2002 "N-AERO" Camaro Pro Mod, 2002 Jaguar XKR Pro Stock, 2001 S-10 Pro Stock Truck as well as dozens of late model Mustang, Camaro and Firebird Stock Replacement, bolt-on, A-1 finish carbon fiber components.

SEMA LAUNCH FOR BARRY GRANT

Second Strike?…. Not just another ignition box!

(9-15-2004) - Second Strike is the only ignition system to provide a powerful second spark throughout the entire RPM range, unlike other multiple spark discharge systems, which typically drop off to one spark at about 3000 RPM. This micro controller based ignition supplements most inductive type systems (points, GM HEI, Ford TFI and Duraspark, Ignitor and Ignitor II) with a powerful capacitive discharge second spark resulting in more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture. Increased burn time at very high RPM levels also reduces misfires resulting in more peak horsepower and torque. No special distributor or coil is required. A simple five-wire hookup to your existing system completes the installation.

Second Strike’s unique crank angle offset (CAO) feature permits you to time the second spark in crank angle degrees to occur after the primary spark with a simple external adjustment dial. A wide range of adjustment (2 to 18?) allows you to experiment with the CAO that works best for your engine’s performance or your driving profile. The CAO feature can be operated while the engine is running to assist experimentation for optimum settings.

A digital rev limiter protects the engine from possible overrev condition. Their system combines both random and a sequential pattern of spark stealing to control RPM. Pertronix claims the benefit of random spark stealing is quicker response time to an over rev limit event while sequential stealing is less invasive to the engine because sparks are not completely dropped allowing the engine to ignite any unburned fuel to keep the cylinders clean and avoid damaging exhaust detonation. Second Strike comes standard with an output compatible with most modern tachometers requiring no interface adapters.
