One hundred is a nice number. We celebrate things when they become one hundred years old or reach the hundredth time that something occurs. One hundred is a lot of many things. One hundred is a great number of wins in racing. Only a very few people in any form of racing have achieved that number. When I was a kid, one hundred pennies was a whole dollar and that was really something. One hundred is a number to be proud of. One hundred episodes of a TV program is a momentous number and the show is considered a major success when that number is reached. The majority of magazines that appear on the scene do not usually see one hundred issues before they fade away. CompetitonPlus.com is publishing the One Hundredth issue this month as we start our sixth year. CompetitionPlus.com is one of the first ever to provide a magazine format on the Internet and one of very few to remain a true source of drag racing news and not succumb to the bashing trend of most Internet sites. While the content of the majority of sites on the Internet lessen the credibility of true reporting, CompetitionPlus.com is one of a very few that continue to bring responsible drag racing news and reporting to it’s readers. A huge “Thank You” to all of the readers who have supported us for the first five years and our ONE HUNDRED issues. Join we us as we provide a tour back to the beginning of our venture. The issue this month is a look at some of our first efforts. Hopefully you will agree that we have come a long way and that we will continue to improve in our efforts to bring you the best there is in drag racing reporting. If the recent trend in visits to CompetitionPlus.com continues, we will shortly celebrate another great number that seemed unbelievable when we started this strange voyage. One of the ways to measure the popularity of an Internet site is to track the unique visits. Our recent increase in visits indicates that we will soon be averaging 500,000 unique visits per month. I don’t know about you, but to me, that is more impressive than the fact that we have achieved the one hundredth issue mark. One hundred is still an impressive number. During the course of writing this column, I have occasionally made reference to the nine readers that I have. That number has slowly been increasing and I think that I may now be approaching the point that my column can claim one hundred readers. I am at ninety-nine and holding. As I attend the last few events of this season, everyone who can find me and claim to be my "one hundredth" reader will receive an 8x10 print of their favorite team. Thank you for at least one hundred great memories. Thank you for at least one hundred new friends. Thank you one hundred times.
