(10-13-2004) - Dodge leap-frogs ahead of the diesel competition with the new Cummins 600 engine available in 2004.5-model 2500 and 3500 Ram Heavy Duty pickups. This engine produces a class-leading 600 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm while cranking out a peak 325 horsepower at 2,900 rpm. Edge Products, an industry leader in diesel performance technology, announces its new EZ plug-in engine module that increases Cummins 600 performance by 65 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
Edge technology recalibrates signals between the truck's PCM and its Cummins 600 engine. Fueling and turbo boost are enhanced to create the power gains. The EZ module offers three different power modes for the driver to select among from in the cab, on the fly. Level 1 increases power by 25 HP/50 lb-ft of torque for better towing performance. For daily driving, Level 2 boosts stock output by 45 HP/75 lb-ft at the rear wheels. Level 3 is for all-out performance and increases power by 65 HP/150 lb-ft. Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) rises with each power level, so aftermarket gauges – pyrometer and turbo boost – are recommended when installing the Edge Cummins 600 EZ. Installation takes about 5 minutes: two underhood plugs and routing a toggle switch into the cab. The sealed, weather-resistant EZ module secures to the fuse-box cover, and factory-style connectors permit the module to be plugged into the MAP sensor harness and fuel-pressure sensor connector.
Real-world improvements include increased hill-climbing speed when towing loads up grades. Fuel economy often improves by up to 10% in the process because the truck's fueling curves are more efficient.

(10-5-2004) – Small-block Chevrolet engines get bolt-on power with vintage style thanks to Edelbrock’s new C-26 Dual-Quad manifold (#5426) for 1996 and later Chevy V8s with Vortec (L31) cast iron or Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum heads.
New for 2004, the C-26 Vortec manifold allows hot rods and customs to keep the vintage dual carb look they desire while using modern heads. This manifold is low profile for hood clearance, and has good fitment on GM Fast Burn cylinder heads. It’s designed to provide power for 262-400 c.i.d. engines working in the 1500-6500 rpm range.
An external water bypass boss is machined into the front of the water crossover for use on 1996 and later Vortec production engines.

(9-15-2004) - Second Strike is the only ignition system to provide a powerful second spark throughout the entire RPM range, unlike other multiple spark discharge systems, which typically drop off to one spark at about 3000 RPM. This micro controller based ignition supplements most inductive type systems (points, GM HEI, Ford TFI and Duraspark, Ignitor and Ignitor II) with a powerful capacitive discharge second spark resulting in more complete combustion of the fuel/air mixture. Increased burn time at very high RPM levels also reduces misfires resulting in more peak horsepower and torque. No special distributor or coil is required. A simple five-wire hookup to your existing system completes the installation.
Second Strike’s unique crank angle offset (CAO) feature permits you to time the second spark in crank angle degrees to occur after the primary spark with a simple external adjustment dial. A wide range of adjustment (2 to 18?) allows you to experiment with the CAO that works best for your engine’s performance or your driving profile. The CAO feature can be operated while the engine is running to assist experimentation for optimum settings.
A digital rev limiter protects the engine from possible overrev condition. Their system combines both random and a sequential pattern of spark stealing to control RPM. Pertronix claims the benefit of random spark stealing is quicker response time to an over rev limit event while sequential stealing is less invasive to the engine because sparks are not completely dropped allowing the engine to ignite any unburned fuel to keep the cylinders clean and avoid damaging exhaust detonation. Second Strike comes standard with an output compatible with most modern tachometers requiring no interface adapters.

(9-08-2004) - Owners of 1999-2003 Ford pickups and Excursions with the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel now have a safe, easy way to improve acceleration, towing power and even fuel economy. Edge Products, an industry leader in diesel performance technology, now offers a Juice With Attitude system for the 7.3L Powerstroke. (8-11-2004) – PJH BRANDS announces the expansion of its new VHT Brand Plastic Paint category. VHT Plastic Paint is designed to paint automotive interior and exterior components and is specifically formulated to adhere to plastic components such as gauge pods, speaker covers, plastic kick panels, and side view mirrors.

(8-05-2004) - The 5 – O button is a microswitch activated trans brake button, that is guaranteed to be the slowest button on the market today, by about 5 hundredths.
The total “throw” on the unit is 4-1/2 inches when all the “shims” or spacers removed. At that point the button will be at its “slowest” adjustment. If you are too slow, you can add shims, making the “throw” shorter, and the release time faster. There are many shims that vary in size, so you can take out just what you need to close in on your reaction time. The top is held on by one screw, and adding / removing shims are a snap!
The top of the button is over 1 inch in diameter; your thumb can not miss it! The down force required to fully engage the button is very soft and smooth. Release is spring controlled, and is also smooth.
The total length is 7-3/4 inches, and the width is 1-1/2 inches. Unit is made of composite plastics. Top and side holes, with screws provide for easy mounting. Actual weight of button is about 6 ounces.

(5-19-2004 ) - Edelbrock's commitment to drag racing continues with the company's exciting new performance parts for competition Oldsmobiles. Two new Edelbrock Victor drag racing manifolds for 455 Olds are now available for racers to give them the winning edge.
Edelbrock Victor Series manifolds are known to deliver race-winning power, incorporating Edelbrock's extensive knowledge in induction technology for maximum horsepower and torque. Victor 455 Olds #2810 works with square-bore carbs and #2811 accepts 4500 Series carbs to accommodate many competition applications. With a single-plane "air-gap" design and an operating range between 4500-7500 rpm, these new aluminum manifolds offer significant horsepower increases over existing intakes.
According to an independent test by Joe Mondello, noted Olds expert, elapsed times were lowered by .280 of a second and the top speed increased by 4 mph.

We, in the Harrell family, are extremely excited to announce the official release of the Dick Harrell Edition Supercar, a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. The "Dick Harrell Edition Camaro" will be sold exclusively through Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI. & built by 1.GMMG, Inc., in Marietta, GA (the original builder of the 2002 Camaro ZL-1 Supercars and many other Dealer built Musclecars). This exciting project brought together a team of individuals not seen since my Dad’s days of racing with Chevrolet and the Chevy dealers he worked so closely with. We are working with GM's new Performance Division to recreate, in a production street version, their 2002 2.Woodward Dream Cruise Camaro. This incredible Camaro houses the new GM Racing Corvette derived C5R 427cu.in. all aluminum race engine, pushing approximately 560 HP to the ground. Our new Dick Harrell Edition Camaro will feature these very unique body panels that Chevrolet created for their Camaro and the C5R race motor will be available through GMMG, Inc. with approximately 630 HP and will run on pump gas.
We have been working with Scott Settlemire of the Camaro Brand Team, John Heinricy of GM Performance Division, Randy Wittine and Kip Wasenko of GM Design Staff, Matt Berger of Berger Chevrolet and Matt Murphy of GMMG, Inc. very closely over the past six months to get this project to this point of releasing it to you, our website members and enthusiasts. Later you will see photos of the prototype car at a GM Design studio in its clay stages, like all GM prototype vehicles go through. We are very excited to finally be able to release this information here first, and look forward to showing you more photos as they become available throughout the production of these Camaros. An official unveiling date is in the works and we are also looking at possibly delivering some of these 30 cars in Kansas City later this summer. Stay tuned for more exciting stuff.

(5-7-2004) - Pat Musi knows a thing or two about competition cylinder heads. Musi, a championship auto racer and performance specialist for three decades, is highly impressed with Edelbrock 's Victor 24 rectangular port big-block Chevy racing cylinder head (#77409).
"It's the best out-of-the-box standard port location head available for large bore (4.470" and larger) big-block Chevys," Musi said. "Edelbrock has another winner."
# 77409 is based on the popular Victor head #77609, and features a
rolled over deck, altered valve locations, partially CNC'd chambers and
exhaust ports for cost-effective performance and revised 118cc
combustion chambers. The head has been angle machined 2.4 and the valve
locations moved to improve flow and combustion efficiency. The new valve
spread
accommodates valves sizes up to 2.40" intake or 1.92" exhaust.
#77409 is finished with a valve job, port match and bowl bending, and comes with 2.30" intake and 1.88" exhaust valves, 1.625" Manley springs (250 lbs. @ 2.000" installed height), and 10 titanium retainers and locks. #77419 is bare head without port matching or bowl bending. (5-3-2004) – Developed as the bread and butter cylinder head for late-model trucks, Chevy’s Vortec-style cylinder head has become the sportsman racer’s cylinder head of choice. These heads feature high-flow ports and a super efficient combustion chamber, and best of all, a bargain-basement price. Now JESEL, the leader in shaft rocker systems has introduced its affordable SS line of shaft rockers for Vortec-style heads. The JESEL Vortec SS shaft rocker systems fit GM O.E. heads, Edelbrock E-Tech aluminum heads and Pro Topline’s Vortec replacement iron heads. (4-30-2004) - World Products, Inc., the company best known for its cylinder heads and engine blocks, has introduced a new intake manifold for small block Chevrolet applications that delivers the power of a single plane racing manifold with the bottom-end performance expected of a dual plane design.
The new “Motown” manifold features a lightweight aluminum alloy casting with a high velocity runner design. A “spider” is cast on the manifold floor to eliminate “puddling” and enhance bottom-end performance, while external runner bosses facilitate the installation of nitrous oxide “fogger” nozzles or fuel injectors. They are available for both 4150 (standard 4-barrel) and 4500 (Dominator) applications.
Dyno-proven to deliver 25-30 more horsepower than other currently popular single plane manifolds, the performance increases are attributed to highly refined runner “short turns” in the plenum.

(4-29-2004) - Mark Williams Enterprises, founded in 1964 as a race car chassis shop, has “returned to its roots” with the introduction of a ‘60s style front engine dragster torsion assembly. Intended for use on today’s new crop of nostalgia dragsters, the assembly combines early styling with contemporary technology.
The housing tube is 1-3/8" o.d. x .058" wall 4130 chrome moly and contains a heat-treated alloy steel torsion bar with an undercut center. Arms are 6-3/8" from the housing center to the center of the 3/8" front axle mounting hole, with a 20" center-to-center. Height is adjusted through use of a 7/8" x 48-tooth serration button that press fits into the arms, while a nylon washer serves as a friction dampening device.
Nobtable improvements over original type torsion assemblies include superior bearings for the arms and provisions for lubrication. The new torsion assembly joins a wide variety of products offered by M-W Enterprises for nostalgia front engined dragsters, including chassis blueprints and frame rail kits.

(4-27-2004) - Manley Performance has introduced an economical new H-beam style forged steel connecting rod for General Motors LS1 applications. They are manufactured from heat-treated 4340 alloy steel and performance rated for applications up to 700 horsepower at 8000 RPM.
The rods come with a 6.125" center-to-center length and large style (2.225") crank journal size. They are .025" longer than stock LS1 rods, and designed to be used with aftermarket pistons (which must also accommodate lightweight .9281" diameter wrist pins; stock LS1 wrist pin bore is .945").
Other key features of this race-proven rod include use of premium grade 7/16" ARP cap screws to secure the caps, while the forgings are heat-treated, stress-relieved, shot-peened and magnafluxed. They come in weight matched sets ± 1.5 grams (Manley p/n 14055-8).

(4-26-2004) - Owners of 1955-57 Chevrolets can enjoy
the benefits of a contemporary suspension and stance through replacing
the OEM Tri-5 chassis with Art Morrison’s latest creation.
The computer-designed frame is made from mandrel-formed 2” x 4” rectangular tubing and is fixture welded to assure the correct alignment of all suspension components.
Up front is an I.F.S. suspension which employs Strange Eng. adjustable coil-over shocks and a 1” diameter front sway bar. Steering is an AGR power rack & pinion with a choice of 15:1 or 20:1 ratios.
A triangulated 4-bar suspension is used in the rear to control both housing “twist” and lateral movement. Coil-over shocks are used in the rear in place of the stock leaf springs. This provides ample clearance to use tires with section widths up to 10.5” inside the original wheel wells (no tubs required). A 3/4” diameter sway bar is used in the rear to enhance cornering stability, while a beefy 9” Ford housing provides the basis for a large gear selection.
Morrison has designed a unique step-type transmission mount which can accommodate any Powerglide, Turbo-Hydro 350 or 400, 700R4, T56, Richmond 5 and 6-speed transmission.
The chassis comes with front and rear bumper mounts, plus body and core support mounts. The process of swapping this chassis in place of the original frame can be accomplished in a home garage by a competent do-it-yourselfer. Absolutely no welding is required.
