(9-8-2003) - Edelbrock's new Adjustable Panhard Rod for 1982-02 Camaros and Firebirds is now available, with an improved design to make it even more user friendly. Edelbrock's adjustable Panhard Rod (PN 5222) lets you center the rear end after raising or lowering the ride height. Unlike other brands, the adjustment can be made without removing the part from your car. Just loosen the jam nuts, adjust the rod until tire-to-wheel well clearance is the same on both sides, and tighten. Like all Edelbrock Panhard Rods, the improved design resists unwanted flex and twisting, keeping the axle properly located under the chassis for improved cornering and handling under all conditions. You get maximum rear suspension travel without bushing bind for a superior ride. Edelbrock's fluted polyurethane bushings can be greased for a long trouble free life.

(4-9-2003) - Vanishing Point Race Cars has introduced its patent-pending X-Link, a strong and positive way to prevent rear tire shake and hold the rear end in place during a low 7- or 6-second Pro Stock or Pro Mod run. The X-Link, which can be used with VPRC's Anti-Roll System and Pro Four-Link, is a sliding "X" that spreads the load out corner to corner, giving added stability and safety. Old wishbone systems spread the load corner to middle, placing the entire load on one single heim end, dramatically increasing the likelihood of failure.
The state-of-the-art X-Link will work on any existing chassis. It can also be installed by Vanishing Point on a new race car.
Some of the leading Pro Modified racers and team owners such as Jim Oddy, Thomas Patterson and Annette Summer have used the X-link from Vanishing Point Race Cars.

Lunati Crank Repair Shop Opens

(3-25-2003) - LUNATI , The Racer's Company, is proud to announce the opening of their new crank repair shop.
Lunati's team of crankshaft experts will inspect all brands of crankshafts (except for LA billet). For a minimal fee Lunati will ensure the crankshaft your going to use in your rebuild or the crankshaft you were racing with all season is straight and inspect for cracks. Lunati will also gauge check T.I.R., all keyways, snout threads, flange threads, sealing surfaces, pilot holes, rods and mains, and the lightening holes to rod O.D. thickness. If any problems are found our Lunati crank repair shop will contact you with their recommendation for repair and the fees associated with the repair. Lunati's crank shop will not repair cast iron crankshafts, but will inspect it for a minimal fee and offers race grind, index and heat treat services for these cranks.
In addition to repairs Lunati offers, heavy metal balancing, no heavy metal balancing, engine assembly balancing, indexing, polishing, single and dual keyway, and heat-treat services.
Lunati's crank repair shop is just one more way Lunati is working to save the racer the expense of replacing an expensive crankshaft and to ensure they have a good crankshaft for the next racing season. (2-19-03) - Innovative Turbo Systems introduces the best system available for controlling turbocharger boost for performance street, road race and drag race applications: the new and improved Multi Stage Boost Controller (MSBC-1) and its sister product, the brand-new MiniGate. The MSBC-1 electronically controls the wastegate, so you can produce repeatable controlled boost with a variety of turbo systems and in a variety of applications—wrapped up in a cost-effective, easy-to-use package.
Engineering a turbo system to perform at its best involves matching the right-size turbo, wastegate, intercooler and so on. Creating and controlling boost depends on getting the right combination of components and more, like controlling the wastegate to bleed off excess exhaust energy and create the desired boost levels. Mechanical wastegate controls can help, to a degree, but Innovative’s new electronic wastegate controller takes fine-tuning a turbo system to a whole new level.
The Multi Stage Boost Controller features brand-new TURBO12G software with a timer function, so you can control when and how much boost comes on over time, as well as according to which gear you’re in and your engine rpm. In all, the MSBC-1 provides six stages of boost control, including a launch stage for drag racing and one stage for each of five gears. You can choose from 17 different ramp settings within each of the six stages, and you can program from 0 up to 60 pounds of boost during each stage in 1-psi increments. It even compensates automatically for changes in air density.
The MSBC-1’s display shows manifold pressure during boost control. Plus, there are two analog data recorder outputs: actual boost level and target boost level. In addition, a self-test makes it easy to figure out if everything has been installed and programmed properly. The self-test checks the display, MAP sensor, solenoids and data logger output. If there’s a problem, error codes indicate the trouble areas.
Innovative’s brand-new MiniGate wastegate is the perfect partner to the MSBC-1. The MiniGate was designed for extreme durability and serious performance. Rigorous flow testing has proved that the innovative MiniGate flows 30 percent more than competing products. Plus, its small size makes it an easy fit under the hood.
The MiniGate features a great-looking billet aluminum top, as well as a reinforced silicone Nomex full-rolling diaphragm for complete valve actuation and precise control. The high-flow, 38mm, one-piece stainless steel valve is enclosed in an extremely rigid cast-iron valve body to eliminate breakage. The MiniGate uses the popular 2.8-inch center-to-center, 2-bolt bolt pattern, and it comes with stainless steel hardware for durability and good looks.
