(6-17-2004) – Quick Fuel Technology (QFT) takes the guesswork out of nitrous delivery activation with their Wide Open Throttle Nitrous Switch. This simple yet ingenious micro-switching device mounts directly to your Holley®-style carburetor, and completes the circuit to deliver the nitrous shot at full throttle. The QFT Wide Open Throttle switch can also help prevent costly engine damage in the event of parts failure by stopping the flow of nitrous to the engine the instant you release the throttle. Breaking a driveline is bad enough – kicking the rods out the side of the block because of runaway RPM is unacceptable. Take control of the situation by installing a QFT Wide Open Throttle Nitrous Switch. The Wide Open Throttle Nitrous Switch is engineered for use on mechanical secondary QFT Q and P series, PROFORM™, and Holley® HP series carburetors. Installation requires use of a QFT secondary cam bracket. This bracket is included on QFT's Q and P series and PROFORM™ carburetors, and is also available separately from QFT as part number 63-2. Holley® 4500 series carburetors do not require a mounting bracket, and use Wide Open Throttle Nitrous Switch part number 600-2. CRANE XR-i CONVERTS POINTS TO ELECTRONIC
(6-08-2004) - Owners of 1957-74 GM and Ford vehicles can now convert their OEM single point mechanical ignition to a maintenance-free digital electronic ignition with Crane’s innovative XR-i conversion kit.
In addition to providing pinpoint-accurate ignition timing without the “float” common to mechanical point-type ignitions, Crane’s XR-i eliminates the need to constantly replace and “set” points. It also features a built-in rev-limiter that’s adjustable from 4,000-8,000 RPM.
The XR-i can easily be installed in about 15 minutes with a two-wire hook-up, and it mounts to where the points were located. Ignition timing is picked up from the points cam, with no “shutter wheel” required. And, because everything is contained within the distributor cap, a “factory look” is maintained —great for restoration projects.
Another important technical feature of the XR-i is the fact that it’s fully sealed in urethane, which protects it from dirt, oil, moisture and vibration. It’s also temperature-protected for safe, reliable operation inside the distributor.
Crane part #750-1700 covers 1957-74 Ford 8-cylinder applications (single point) and #750-1710 converts 1957-74 General Motors vehicles.

TCI® 4th Gear Super Servo
(6-7-2004) - Have you ever burned up a transmission due to excessive towing loads? GM’s 700R4 and 4L60E transmissions are built for standard hauling and towing, but could use a little help in the area of fourth gear where full manual valve bodies can lead to a burnt band. The new TCI® 4th Gear Super Servo allows more force to be applied to the band, reducing destructive slippage and internal heat. The 4th Gear Super Servo provides improved sealing and a larger surface area to increase overall band life. With more holding power in 4th, there is increased transmission gear shift firmness resulting in better performance regardless of whether you are towing or racing your car or truck. POWERMASTER = MORE FOR LS
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
(5-21-2004) - Powermaster’s XSTorque™, the highest torque starter made, was added to their line of high performance starters and alternators two years ago. Since then, Powermaster has developed the 9509, an XSTorque™ starter for all LS applications, including trucks and SUVs. With thousands of XSTorque™ starters on racing and street-performance engines worldwide, Powermaster introduced the 9509, a premier addition to the XSTorque™ line that brings race-bred technology to the street, and substance to the show scene in the form of a chrome version, the 19509.
Why a top-of-the-line Powermaster XSTorque™ in your LS-motored Chevy, Pontiac or GMC? First, torque output of a starter is crucial in order to spin the engine without overheating internally. Since there’s no such thing as too much torque, the XSTorque’s 200 ft.-lb.’s works for any application. Second, while racing engines require a 200 ft.-lb. starter, your engine can also use the same 4.4:1 gear reduction system that replaces the failure-prone factory plastic planetary gears. Finally, the 9509 has a CNC-machined, billet housing and mounting block that allows for maximum header clearance while eliminating problems associated with heat.
With every Powermaster starter, you get a dyno sheet showing the exact performance of that starter. These sheets not only explain how to interpret the data, but they are also your assurance that Powermaster starters in general and specifically your XSTorque™ 9509 is built to consistent, statistically-controlled standards, and that it has been dyno tested through the entire power range. Now isn’t it comforting to have the proven output and durability of a Powermaster under the hood of your LS-powered car, truck or SUV

(5-19-2004 ) - Edelbrock's commitment to drag racing continues with the company's exciting new performance parts for competition Oldsmobiles. Two new Edelbrock Victor drag racing manifolds for 455 Olds are now available for racers to give them the winning edge.
Edelbrock Victor Series manifolds are known to deliver race-winning power, incorporating Edelbrock's extensive knowledge in induction technology for maximum horsepower and torque. Victor 455 Olds #2810 works with square-bore carbs and #2811 accepts 4500 Series carbs to accommodate many competition applications. With a single-plane "air-gap" design and an operating range between 4500-7500 rpm, these new aluminum manifolds offer significant horsepower increases over existing intakes.
According to an independent test by Joe Mondello, noted Olds expert, elapsed times were lowered by .280 of a second and the top speed increased by 4 mph.
The new Victor 455 Olds drag racing manifolds stand more than
three inches taller than the Edelbrock Torker manifold and incorporate
a high-flow 3.4-square-inch runner area. Edelbrock engineers have
removed the intake bolts between the runners, thus creating a smoother
airflow path for higher airflow and more power! Both manifolds feature
a port size and shape that
has been optimized to match the flow characteristics of Edelbrock
Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads #60519 (complete) or #60529
(bare).
These parts are for competition only, and are not legal for sale or use on pollution-controlled motor vehicles.

(5-13-2004) – Quick Fuel Technology, with more than 50 years experience in the high performance and racing fuel system industry, has
announced their improved adjustable secondary housing for carburetors
that employ a vacuum secondary system. There are a couple of drawbacks
to factory-style vacuum-controlled secondaries: no
adjustability and changing springs can lead to seal failures. Changing
the secondary diaphragm can result in a torn or leaking seal. The QuickSet Adjustable Secondary Housing features a machined billet cover with an easy-access adjustment screw. This simple adjustment allows for a precise secondary opening for optimum secondary throttle response and performance on the track, trail or street. The adjustment needle changes not only the opening point (RPM) but also the rate (time to open) of the secondary. This is a great way to dial in optimum power at specific rpm ranges and is especially useful in racing situations where
traction may be compromised and secondary timing is crucial. The
Quick Set Adjustable Secondary Housing is also available with the
original cover to comply with rules that require a stock appearance.

James Stewart is wearing Dartboard™, an exclusive Oakley invention. Availability is currently limited, but we figured Bubba earned the true monolithic shield of optically pure Plutonite®. Its sculpturally integrated hinges feature temple lugs of stainless steel. Bubba chose White Camo for the lightweight O Matter® frame. Other options include Night Camo, Polished Black, and translucent Honey and Berry hues. Off-road warriors like Bubba will appreciate impact protection that exceeds ANSI Z87.1 Industrial Standards, Unobtainium® inlays for a comfortably secure fit, and patented XYZ Optics® for clarity at all angles of vision.

![]() |
We could tell you about the sculpturally integrated hinges, the lightweight O Matter® frame material or the Unobtainium® components that actually increase grip with perspiration. But the truth is, those who wear Zero™ are buying it because it's like nothing the world has ever seen. Customers don't seem to care about the raked-back contours that maximize peripheral vision and protection. Or the digitally mapped 3-D lens geometry that uses patented XYZ Optics®, an innovation that maintains razor-sharp clarity at all angles of vision. If you're someone who wants a one-of-a-kind invention like Zero™, performance and comfort are not prerequisites. But you get them anyway.
Unknown
![]() |
Some think it's called "Unknown" because of sculptural geometry that no one has ever seen before. Few frames reach this thickness, even though our O Matter® material makes it startlingly lightweight. Few lenses are swept back with this degree of contour, even though 8.75 base curvature opens peripheral vision. For those with small to medium-size faces, this invention combines the comfort of Oakley's Three-Point Fit with patented XYZ Optics® for clarity at all angles of view. Not to mention the secure grip of Unobtainium® earsocks, plus durability that exceeds ANSI Z87.1 Industrial Standards for impact protection. The only remaining unknown is why you're still wearing conventional eyewear.

(5-3-2004) – Developed as the bread and butter cylinder head for late-model trucks, Chevy’s Vortec-style cylinder head has become the sportsman racer’s cylinder head of choice. These heads feature high-flow ports and a super efficient combustion chamber, and best of all, a bargain-basement price. Now JESEL, the leader in shaft rocker systems has introduced its affordable SS line of shaft rockers for Vortec-style heads. The JESEL Vortec SS shaft rocker systems fit GM O.E. heads, Edelbrock E-Tech aluminum heads and Pro Topline’s Vortec replacement iron heads. JESEL’s SS rockers are a direct bolt-on for Edelbrock E-Techs and Pro Topline heads, however, GM O.E. cylinder heads require drilling and tapping rocker stud holes to 7/16-inch. Jesel’s SS rocker assemblies eliminate the need for rocker studs, guide plates, polylocks and stud girdles. They bolt on to existing rocker stud pedestals and provide a rigid base for the ultimate in valvetrain stability and correct rocker geometry. Racers report superior valveguide durability and consequently better valve seat life. Jesel SS shaft rockers will also hold lash adjustment much longer than stud-mounted rocker arms. Features include CNC-machined 2024 Alloy rocker bodies, Torrington shaft needle bearings, 4340 alloy steel adjusters, billet steel stands and centerless-ground rocker shafts. Three ratio packages are available: 1.5/1.5, 1.6/1.5 and 1.6/1.6.

(4-30-2004) - World Products, Inc., the company best known for its cylinder heads and engine blocks, has introduced a new intake manifold for small block Chevrolet applications that delivers the power of a single plane racing manifold with the bottom-end performance expected of a dual plane design.
The new “Motown” manifold features a lightweight aluminum alloy casting with a high velocity runner design. A “spider” is cast on the manifold floor to eliminate “puddling” and enhance bottom-end performance, while external runner bosses facilitate the installation of nitrous oxide “fogger” nozzles or fuel injectors. They are available for both 4150 (standard 4-barrel) and 4500 (Dominator) applications.
Dyno-proven to deliver 25-30 more horsepower than other currently popular single plane manifolds, the performance increases are attributed to highly refined runner “short turns” in the plenum.

(4-29-2004) - Mark Williams Enterprises, founded in 1964 as a race car chassis shop, has “returned to its roots” with the introduction of a ‘60s style front engine dragster torsion assembly. Intended for use on today’s new crop of nostalgia dragsters, the assembly combines early styling with contemporary technology.
The housing tube is 1-3/8" o.d. x .058" wall 4130 chrome moly and contains a heat-treated alloy steel torsion bar with an undercut center. Arms are 6-3/8" from the housing center to the center of the 3/8" front axle mounting hole, with a 20" center-to-center. Height is adjusted through use of a 7/8" x 48-tooth serration button that press fits into the arms, while a nylon washer serves as a friction dampening device.
Nobtable improvements over original type torsion assemblies include superior bearings for the arms and provisions for lubrication. The new torsion assembly joins a wide variety of products offered by M-W Enterprises for nostalgia front engined dragsters, including chassis blueprints and frame rail kits.

A triangulated 4-bar suspension is used in the rear to control both housing “twist” and lateral movement. Coil-over shocks are used in the rear in place of the stock leaf springs. This provides ample clearance to use tires with section widths up to 10.5” inside the original wheel wells (no tubs required). A 3/4” diameter sway bar is used in the rear to enhance cornering stability, while a beefy 9” Ford housing provides the basis for a large gear selection.
Morrison has designed a unique step-type transmission mount which can accommodate any Powerglide, Turbo-Hydro 350 or 400, 700R4, T56, Richmond 5 and 6-speed transmission.
The chassis comes with front and rear bumper mounts, plus body and core support mounts. The process of swapping this chassis in place of the original frame can be accomplished in a home garage by a competent do-it-yourselfer. Absolutely no welding is required.

That's the idea behind a special Edelbrock consumer rebate program
featuring its popular Thunder Series AVS carburetors, plus mix-and-match
Performer, EPS, RPM and Air-Gap manifold/carb packages. The rebate
program is for specially
marked Edelbrock products purchased from Apr. 20, 2004 to June 30,
2004
(one rebate redemption per household).
AVS Thunder Series carb part numbers in the rebate program include
#1805, #1806, #1812, #1813, #1825 and #1826. According to Steve
Whipple, Edelbrock vice president of sales, consumers can get a
$20 rebate on any AVS Thunder Series Carb purchase, or they can
get $30 back by combining it with one of the following Edelbrock
manifolds: Performer Series, Performer EPS, Performer RPM and Performer
Air-Gap. Plus, there's a $15 rebate when
any of the manifolds are purchased with an Edelbrock Performer Series
carburetor.
"If any consumer is serious about increasing performance with selected Edelbrock carbs and manifolds, this is a never-before opportunity to do so and save money," Whipple said.
To get cash back, consumers will need to fill out and send in a special redemption form, along with a receipt and UPC label. Rebates will be returned by mail within six to eight weeks.
Whipple added that Edelbrock has a major marketing campaign based around the rebate program, including print and Web ads, special promotional literature and merchandise for retailers, plus giveaway materials for races and other consumer events. "This is a very special promotion," Whipple said, "and we want to get the word out to both the consumer and retailer."

(4-20-2004) -– Powermaster’s XSTorque™, the highest torque starter second only to the company’s own ULTRATorque® line, has just introduced the 9518, a 168-tooth, drivers side mount Chevy starter to their line of high performance starters and alternators. With thousands of XSTorque™ starters on racing and street-performance engines worldwide, Powermaster’s introduction of the 9518, a premier addition to the XSTorque™ line, brings a 1.8kW, 200 ft.-lb. Denso-style starter to the racetrack.
Why a top-of-the-line Powermaster XSTorque™ for your Chevy? First, torque output of a starter is crucial in order to spin the engine without overheating internally. Since there’s no such thing as too much torque, the XSTorque’s™ 200 ft.-lb.’s works for any application. Second, racing engines demand a 200 ft.-lb. starter, with a 4.4:1 gear reduction system that replaces the failure-prone factory plastic planetary gears. Finally, the 9518 has a CNC-machined, billet housing and drivers side mounting block that allows for maximum header clearance while eliminating problems associated with heat.
With every Powermaster starter, you get a dyno sheet showing the exact performance of that starter. These sheets not only explain how to interpret the data, but they are also your assurance that Powermaster starters in general and specifically your XSTorque™ 9518 is built to consistent, statistically-controlled standards, and that it has been dyno tested through the entire power range. Now isn’t it comforting while racing to the checkers to have the proven output and durability of a Powermaster?

(4-15-2004) – Quick Fuel Technology (QFT) takes the guesswork out of nitrous delivery activation with their Wide Open Throttle Nitrous Switch.

(4-13-2004) – The truck market is booming, and Hypertech has released Power Programmer™ #30022 for 2004 GM trucks and SUVs. This single part number covers the entire line of GM vehicles powered by 4.8/5.3/6.0 and 8.1-liter V8 engines including the Hummer H2.
Hypertech’s exclusive Power Tuning program is the fastest and easiest way for a truck or SUV owner to improve vehicle performance. The dyno-developed and road-tested fuel and ignition tuning software contained in the Power Programmer produces gains of up to 22 horsepower and 29 ft.-lbs. of torque (depending on application) at the touch of a button. The Power Programmer gives truck and SUV owners the power to reprogram the onboard computer to match their specific needs and driving styles. That’s why Hypertech Power Tuning is the first and most important upgrade that an enthusiast can install on a new vehicle.
The Power Programmer for 2004 GM trucks and SUVs contains Hypertech’s exclusive “Dual Fuel” calibrations for both regular and premium gas. Hypertech Power Tuning for regular grade fuel is substantially more powerful than stock tuning with either regular or premium fuel, giving drivers increased power without the additional cost of premium gas. In most engines operating at a compression ratio less than 9.0:1, regular fuel with optimized tuning makes just as much power as premium fuel with optimized tuning. But in vehicles with higher compression ratios you may choose to download the Power Tuning program for premium fuel in situations that demand maximum power for passing, towing and off-roading – the Power Programmer contains both programs.
Hypertech’s Power Programmer is a powerful self-contained automotive computer that allows GM, Dodge or Ford owners to customize their vehicle’s onboard computer to work properly with aftermarket accessories. The rpm limiter can be adjusted in precise 100 rpm increments to extend the engine’s operating range for more pulling power and faster acceleration. The top speed limiter can be raised to match the speed rating of factory-approved high-performance tires. The powerful Power Programmer can also customize automatic transmission shift points and firmness for quicker acceleration and extended transmission life. Truck enthusiasts who have installed non-stock tires or rearend gears can use the Power Programmer to properly adjust part-throttle shifting and to correct the speedometer and odometer readings (as required by law).
The Power Programmer has the ability to read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) stored in the vehicle’s onboard computer. This feature allows the owner to view detailed information on the vehicle’s operation without purchasing expensive diagnostic computers or scanners used by dealership technicians.
Hypertech Power Tuning can be installed in minutes through the vehicle’s underdash diagnostic connector without tools or knowledge of computers. The Power Programmer downloads and stores the stock tuning, which can be restored at any time. The Power Programmer is emission legal (approved or pending in 50 states) and does not void the factory warranty.

(3-11-2004) - Whether it's searching for a wrench that's fallen in the service bay, working under a vehicle's hood at the crack of dawn, or lighting up a dark garage on an overcast day, the new Night Spot Halogen Rechargeable Spotlight (CTL3918) from Snap-on Tools Company helps users illuminate just about any job at hand. The spotlight shines with features including cordless convenience, versatile positioning options and an ultra-bright halogen beam.
Using a 55-watt halogen bulb, the Snap-on® Night Spot offers light bearers a hand-held spotlight with a beam as bright as 1,000,000 candles. The light features a "soft start," or gradual build to full brightness, which sustains the life of its internal electronics. A built-in dimmer switch located on the back of the lamp head allows users to raise or lower the intensity of the beam, and conserve battery power. When the light's temperature becomes too hot, the dimmer
automatically activates to lower the beam intensity and prevent the unit from overheating.
A range of rechargeable batteries including the 9.6-, 12-, 14.4- and 18-volt CTB-Series Packs provide power for the spotlight and allow users the freedom to move anywhere. Average battery run times range between 10 and 34 minutes, depending on which battery pack is used and the beam intensity that is selected. All battery packs are quickly rechargeable with the Snap-on® Versavolt (CTC318) battery charger. Battery packs and chargers are sold separately and available immediately from Snap-on Tools.
The Snap-on Night Spot is housed in an impact-resistant and temperature-enduring polymer external shell, which is designed for durability and long life. A front-fixed metallic lens guard prevents damage to the bulb and protects users' hands from heat exposure. A forward facing trigger guard prevents accidental activation or deactivation of the unit. The light is also equipped with a spare halogen bulb, which is secured by a clip inside the lamp.
With two hanging hooks on the back of the unit, the Snap-on Night Spot spotlight can be hung and positioned in a number of different angles, freeing up users hands. The battery packs provide a stable base for the light to stand upright. The lamp can also be positioned on its back to point upwards.
Technicians and car lovers can find more about the Night Spot Halogen Rechargeable Spotlight (CTL3918) and Versavolt (CTC318) battery charger by contacting their local Snap-on representative, by visiting http://www.snapon.com.
(3-10-2004) - Dust, mud and water can wreak havoc on a bike, causing parts to wear out prematurely. Sadly, some lubricants only compound the problem, turning that bike into a messy, gooey dirt magnet.
Fortunately, Royal Purple’s Max-Chain is a lubricant of a different color. The advanced high-performance synthetic lubricant provides excellent protection for chains, open gears and exposed metal surfaces—even in dusty or wet, acidic environments.
Max-Chain forms an extremely durable, long-lasting film, so you don’t have to apply it frequently. The non-tacky film does not collect dust or other airborne contaminants, and it protects against abrasive wear.
Because Max-Chain provides excellent rust and corrosion protection in all situations, including salt spray and acidic environments, it also works beautifully for preserving parts during extended storage. The tenacious, EP lubricating film of Max-Chain also protects heavily loaded surfaces.
Max-Chain is a unique, thixotrophic lubricant blended with a solvent carrier. It can be applied easily; just spray or brush it on. It’s environmentally responsible, too: Max-Chain® biodegrades to leave only small quantities of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate, both of which are naturally occurring, pure minerals.

(3-9-2004) - Performance Distributors’ new “Instant Timing Knob” Racing D.U.I. is a real technological breakthrough! You can now actually change your timing with the simple turn of the Instant Timing Knob. You don’t have to loosen and re-tighten your distributor hold-down clamp. Simply turn the knob to advance or retard your timing. ½ Revolution equals one degree of timing and one full revolution equals two degrees of timing.
No timing light required. Plus, crew chiefs can now avoid those wicked hand burns that occur so often when rotating a distributor in a hot race engine. In addition to the accuracy of the Instant Timing Knob, each D.U.I. distributor’s mechanical advance is calibrated on a distributor machine throughout the entire rpm range. This distributor helps you tremendously when you’re making a quick pit stop. Helps you hook-up better when the track is slick or when you’re trying to put that extra horsepower to the ground. Also very useful on the dyno.
