Racial Diversity
Recently, ESPN's Sportcenter asked that same question regarding
NEXTEL Cup Competition in NASCAR and the answer was an overwhelming
negative. Does drag racing do enough to promote diversity or is
this really a non-issue?
?????? it's 2004 ! not 1963. aren't there enough "RACER'S"
they come in all shapes..most are members of the human "RACE"....

Who cares? - Sloth665
How many minorities do you see in the Pro Categories? -
Club 400
How many in pro catagories? Who cares? I see racers not black/white/red/yellow,
male/female
Next you'll say there should be quota's? Doesn't matter who the
best driver is, we don't have enough (fill in the underpriveledged-for-the
day here) so we have to have some?
Get a grip, this is a loaded question to cause controversy, and
this type of controversy is not needed or wanted in racing. Go to
a track down south and tell me there is no "minority racers"!
How many in pro.....I don't see a whole bunch of pro's with my
last name either, I guess "they" are against me and my
family too huh?
I'll wear rags and eat toast as long as I can race! - goinbroke2
The only time this question comes up for me is watching other forms
of motorsports. Drag racing has people from all walks of life. Race,
creed and color is of no consequence in the straight line sport.
'Nuff said. - ONFIRE
They did a feature on the same subject RE: NASCAR. Who cares? -

Time to split?
With the recent rule change limiting overdrive and making legal
traction control for nitrous cars, is it time to split Pro Modified?
Pro Mod and even the formative barnstorming days of the late eighties
always had both nitrous and blown. The split could lose the fan
appeal. The fans love the contoversy of the two types of Pro Mods.
Plus you have to deal with another payout and time slot.I don't
think it will ever happen. - Animal Jim
They need to open this class up to a "run what you brung"
category. Look at the controversy NHRA is having with the A/fuelers
racing with the blown alcohol cars. Depending on the track conditions,
time of year and other uncontrollable factors, one group will have
an advantage. Open the Pro Mods to Unlimited modifications (no nitro
though) I realize this will create a hardship for the under funded
cars, and there lies the sticking point. - Andamo
Hey GUYS & gals....Let's see what we pay for "HEADS-UP,
run what ya brung RACING" nuff said! - LikeItFast
One thing is for certain, the IHRA governing body needs to quit
making changes during the season. Make changes at the end of the
season and stick to them for the entire racing schedule instead
of sending people back to the drawing boards. - Duffer Wall
Dump the oil down funny cars - let the blower Pro Mods take their
place. for the Night of Fire add back top dragster + top sportsman
quick 8's to fill in the gap. If Rockingham is any indication of
who is "paying" for the race - the fans are being run
off - the spectator side looked like a local match/quick 8 race.
i quess when the national events are becoming more of a "tv/wrestling"
promotion rather than a drag race. It's a shame to see the sport
dying before our eyes - if the $$$ is what talks it will be too
late to save the sport unless someone starts listening to what go
us here and what will take us not to the next "promotional
level" but to what brings the paying fans to the track.-

Your idea is not just yours hundreds other p/m racers have made
the same statement,it seems IHRA makes their changes base on $$$$
not what the fans or racers want. - John C
