The latest results from the third stop on the eight-race NSCA Corteco Gaskets NSCA Drag Racing Series
By Brian Wood

Sunday Looking Great in Maryland

(5-16-2004) - There was a little rain overnight, but by 9 AM Sunday the sun broke through and we’re getting ready for another great day of racing at Cecil County Dragway.

Eliminations for the Jim Sellers Memorial will begin at 11 AM, and the assembled teams are looking forward to getting it on out on the quarter-mile.

During yesterday’s three qualifying sessions, several potential national speed and elapsed time records were set, and these will be verified at the conclusion of the event.

Also, the NSCA’s new system for reporting qualifying and elimination results seems to be working very well. Watch for complete round by round elimination results shortly after we wrap things up tonight.

In the meantime, click on the following link for a complete rundown on all of Saturday’s exciting qualifying action:

Eliminations Proceeding in Rising Sun

As news breaks, we'll pass it on to you.

(5-14-2004) - Confirming the fact that Mother Nature does indeed love the NSCA this weekend, the elimination rounds for the Jim Sellers Memorial event at Cecil County Raceway are going on under mostly clear skies.

Some highlights of the first round include the surprising early exit of Pat Musi’s “Team Green” for the second event in a row. In “Popeye” Musi’s match-up with Vinny Budano, the defending champion found himself with more than his opponent to contend with as the wheel apparently came off in his hands before half track, and he had to use a lot of skill to get it back under control.

Musi’s teammate Tony Christian fared a little better, but he still came out on the losing end of his battle with points leader Scott Merkel by way of a holeshot, .056 to .077. Merkel ran through at 6.737, 209.72 to Christian’s better 6.737, 209.72.

Stay tuned for more updates soon!
